The eagles website is reporting that he has signed the 1.43 mil one year contract.
He never changed his agent it seems. There was a rumor that he was switching agents to Fletcher Smith (who also represents McNabb) but as of a few days ago, Smith said he hadn't been contacted. So Anthony Agnone is still his agent, but nobody really knows for sure if he will be in the future.
Westbrook is being severely underappreciated here. He is not a prototypical rb, so other teams wouldn't necessarily be interested, but he is the reason their offense is successful, only second to McNabb in importance IMHO.
Eagles on one year deals:
Keith Adams ( a steal)
Hugh Douglas
Jon Ritchie
Brian Westbrook (a steal)
They will try to tie up Michael Lewis with a long term extension next. The same way they just recently signed Lito Shappard and Sam Rayburn to 5 year extensions in Nov of last year. And like they did with Artis Hicks G/T last april with a 6 year deal. That is some value.

That's right. Just a first rounder, not 1st and 3rd.

Either Westbook loves the game of football, or he is just smart.
I believe he deserves way more than 1.43 mil. because I see him as Marshall Faulk Jr. He should be making at least 3 Million in salary a year so one could say he returned for the love of the game and his teammates, or he is just down right smart.
He realized that if he didn't get his you know what into camp, his low salary was going to get lower. And obviously the Eagles won't budge, EX: T.O, so he sees that he could sit out until the season and make about 500k, or he might as well just get back and make over 1 mil.
I think he made the smart move.

The Eagles refuse to pay their players what they want, and that's why they manage to stay under the cap and field a good team year after year. They refuse to commit a ton of money to 4-5 guys, and instead spread it around the team very well. They are the Patriots of the NFC in that regard.
However, the Patriots get it done in the postseason and the Eagles do not.

Simon? Old and fat. Shows up to camp out of shape, and takes a few games to get into game shape. I have no problem with slapping the fra\nchise tag on him and keeping him for a year. Any other plan would cost too much money.
Hollis Thomas? I didn't hear him complaining when he was injured. Now he wants to be paid? No problem making him play out his contract.
Burgess? Let him go. He had a good postseason to an average carreer thus far.
Trotter? Great fit in phlly because all they ask him to do is blow up the middle. But his knees won't handle a full season and he knows it. I don't care if he was voted to the probowl (a mistake in my opinion) He was not worth big money and the Eagles were right not to pay him huge. They gave him a moderately low ball contract and he took it.
Owens? Does he deserve more money? ABSOLUTELY. With respect to his impact on the field, absolutely. Plus his rehab to be able to play in the Super Bowl is nothing short of miraculous. That needs to be rewarded. Maybe not ridiculous money, but if they had moved the bonus to this year instaed of next it would have been the right thinhg to do. It would have shown reward and thanks for a good season. His contract needed to be reworked anyway. As it stands now, there is a showdown, and I put money on Owens blinking first. But disgruntled employees are tough on morale. Bad move by the Eagles.
Westbrook? More valuable to the team than Owens. MORE VALUABLE than Owens. He can't be replaced. For him to be paid 1.43 mil this year is an insult and he should take it as such. He is more valuable to the team.
Yes, the Eagles refuse to pay players what they want. But it should be more in line with what they deserve IMO. McNabb was awarded a big contract because of his value to the team. Westbrook is the second most important player on the team. He deserves more. Owens should have been offered a token. They had money to spend. Lurie is a cheap SOB and fits right in the history of the Eagles treating their players like crap (players had to worry about their cars being towed or stolen at the vet and there were rats in the weight room. ANd if anyone remembers something about the players having to launder their own towels chime in. I vaugely remember that)
