Tiger Woods has missed his first cut in 7 years. An amazing run of 142 straight cuts made. The current longest is now Ernie Els at 20.

For those of you that are familiar with the pleasure and pain that is golf. You understand just how amazing that run was.

Yea, this will probally add more fuel to the negativity towards him as of recent. He's still my favorite player and Im glad he's gone back to his old swing, the swing that won all those championships.

Golf is by far the hardest sport I've ever played and imo the hardest period.

Say what you want about golf and whether or not it's that great of a sport. . .but I don't think anyone can deny that it's hard. Those who find it easy can go to the PGA Tour and make millions if they'd like. . .

You clearly have never play golf before. If you had you wouldn't have made this statement. I've played football, a little lacrosse, soccer, and baseball and none kicked my tail like Golf. If you club face is closed or open by 1 inch the wrong way you'll end up 30 or more yards in the wrong direction.

I think watching those football players at the probowl try to play is testament to my opinion. They play a physically gruelling sport and come out their and think they can hit it ike Tiger and can't do it.

I also believe that these players like golf because its so hard. You have MJ among many other athletes who are golf addicts, these are guys who dominated their sports and couldnt make a PGA cut if their life depended on it.

This is just my opinon.

It can be boring to watch, I'll admit that. Its vry fun to play and you dont have to be very good to enjoy it either. Its just like any other sport. Once you get a few of the guys around its bound to be great fun.

I agree (and I agree with the post above in response to SF55), CLL. I do like watching golf, but back when I first started if I hadn't had my buddies right there with me I probably would've gotten real frustrated and hated it.

I've never golfed alone but I bet by now I could go out and have a good time playing a round alone. Friends are still make it worth the time / money, though. . .

Like anything else you have to get over that 1st hump and thats never fun. Once you get to that point where you can play decently enough that you feel encouraged to want to get better than you'll definately enjoy it.

Like Annapolis said, having a friend/s there definately makes it easier. They'll lighten up the mood while being a competitive spirit to the game.

Dont get me wrong I'd rather have a set of pads on and some pigskin!

He played in 31 tourneys that didn't have a cut (Tour Championship, Accenture World Match Play...etc).

I still say Byron Nelson's record of 113 is the mark to beat.

This is also what people say about Baseball.

People that play contact sports think that since Baseball isn't a contact sport that it is easy. And Golf is the same. Sure I hate golf, but that is because I suck at it.

But about Baseball, my friend Andy kept saying "Baseball is for pussys" so we made him get up to the plate. My friend on Varisty who is a SP threw him like 70-75 mph heat, and he wimped out like Todd Pinkston.

The only reason people hate Golf and Basesball is because they suck at it.

Andy by the way, I think Football is way easier than Baseball or Golf.

As long as you have some balls and aren't afraid to get hit, football is actually simple... at the high school level.

Woods streak is incredible...it should have been longer, but the only reason he missed the cut at Pebble is because it was delayed for months, and it didn't fit in with his schedule. Even tho I'm not a big Tiger fan, I'll give him his props for that streak.

I agree (and I agree with the post above in response to SF55), CLL. I do like watching golf, but back when I first started if I hadn't had my buddies right there with me I probably would've gotten real frustrated and hated it.

I've never golfed alone but I bet by now I could go out and have a good time playing a round alone. Friends are still make it worth the time / money, though. . .

I recommend golfing alone a few times. It is a time to zone out all stress and focus on hitting a little ball. Besides the great stress relief, it’s good exercise if you walk the course as it is about a 4 - 5 mile walk around the average 18-hole course.

I love the irony that he broke Byron Nelson's record, but the streak ended at the Byron Nelson Classic.

Did Byron Nelson ever play tourneys w/o a cut? I'm not the expert, and it seems like if 25% of Tiger's tourneys didn't have a cut, then some of Byron's may not have also. Do you happen to know the answer? I would be interested to know.

Did Byron Nelson ever play tourneys w/o a cut? I'm not the expert, and it seems like if 25% of Tiger's tourneys didn't have a cut, then some of Byron's may not have also. Do you happen to know the answer? I would be interested to know.

The only tourney that Nelson ever played in without a cut that I'm aware of is back when the PGA was a match play format and that can be excused because that has always been considered a "major".

Another thing to take into consideration is that Nelson put up his huge numbers during and immediately after WWII. To put in bluntly, the quality of the fields were significantly diminished by pros who were either at war or whose games were severely impacted by their time away or injuries incurred.

I believe one factor is that he changed his golf swing. To those who dont play you can look at Tiger as an example of what any type of change could possibly do to your swing. My father is a golf whore so he explained it to me and Ill try to relay it.

i thinks its because he married that hot swedish model. He has better things to do now then play golf. If you know what I mean.
