ummmmmmmm; they were #1 in the league this year in offensive rebounds...
ssshhhhhh; I already know about the "total rebounds" number - not so good.
I originally thought that the Wiz were gonna get creamed in this series. But in every game so far, they have shown some tenacity and gave themselves many chances to take one or two of those games. While my original thoughts seem to be coming true, I have been very happy with the simple fact that we can compete. We just need to have better consistency in our shooting (and FT's).
Miami shot 77% from the field in the first quarter of game 2. While that is much higher than their average percentage throughout the series, it is an indication of how well that team shoots the ball. Very hard to compete with that. I've said the whole time that Miami and Phoenix will face off in the finals - I think Phoenix wins in 6 - but if Shaq stays out, Detroit might get another run.
Altogether, I'm proud of the Wiz, and now we have a lot to look forward to next year...oh no, here come the "high expectations" that I'm always so cautious about having...

G.H. I totally agree with you. I am proud of our squad. Despite the 3 L's, the Wizards have looked good in the past 2 games, at least, in the final score category (game 1 was too much of a blowout.
)
I hang the blame on inexperience, both the players' and the coaches'. We should do better next year.
As for Miami, I don't think they can best Detroit. Should Indi get lucky and win the series, then, yes, it'll be a cakewalk for the Heat. However, Detroit took out Kobe and Shaq last year, and a head-to-head matchup in the playoffs between the Pistons and the Heat will, IMO, yield the same result. Detroit's D is just sick. Plus, they're not weak in the middle like the 'Zards.

true dat...
If Shaq's healthy though, it will be a killer series. Detroit's D is dominant, but the shooters from Miami seem to sink just about anything they put up! You going to the game on Sat.? It would be really nice if the Wiz won...If they don't win, I might have to root for Miami in the finals - just to ease the pain of being swept! Remember last time? Jordan took it to us - and it kind of hurt a little less, knowing that da bulls were such a force back then.

Antawn, Larry, and Gilbert all came up limp at the end of the game, too, and kept fighting and never left the game.
That's something I love to see.

I'm still keeping the faith that I will be at Game 6 rooting for the Wizards to go back to the M-I-A to earn some respect from the NBA critics. Shaq is ailing, and so are. The games are getting closer, and our young bucks are determined to make a name for themselves. They're in the right place to put the league on alert for next year.
Jake, I agree, the resilience of the players on our squad is something to be admired. Hopefully that rubs off on our beloved Skins.
Should we take the Heat in 7, I don;'t know if we could beat Detroit. They certainly seem to have our number. We stink against them. We don't as bad with the Heat.

That pic above says it all.
I said we'd be swept before the series even started. The Heat are just too good.
All we need to do is retain Larry Hughes, improve our defense, and keep the motivation and we will be very good next year.

I think the motivation will be good for next year. I,m guessing that the big 3 after tasting some playoff success will be hungry for more
Eddie Jordan also seems good at this aspect of the game
Guess it is up to Ernie Grunfeld to pick the best players to go the next step

I was seated in section 414 (NOSEBLEEDS) and I could see Portis, his jacket was so loud

Overall the atmosphere was good at MCI. It's been two days, and I'm still a little hoarse from hootin and hollerin' for the team. Sadly, they lost.
But, hey, how 'bout that Stevie Blake leading the troops with a late game charge??? Go '02 Terps!!!
