TO as a Skin?
PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia Eagles will not renegotiate the contract of star wide receiver Terrell Owens, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Wednesday.
Terrell Owens fired longtime agent David Joseph in April, hired Drew Rosenhaus and started asking for a renegotiation just one year into a seven-year deal worth almost $49 million.
The Eagles have intimated they wouldn't redo the contract, and owner Lurie told the newspaper, "It's not even an issue."
"It's a non-issue," Lurie said. "There are a lot of things I spend time thinking about, but that's not one of them."
Lurie criticized Owens' new agent for giving him "self-destructive advice."
The flamboyant Owens helped the Eagles reach the Super Bowl in his first season in Philadelphia after eight years with San Francisco.
Owens, reached at his offseason home in Atlanta, declined to comment.
Rosenhaus also declined to respond. "My policies are not to comment, so I have no comment," Rosenhaus said.
Owens skipped the Eagles' mandatory minicamp April 29, in a holdout that could extend into training camp, which starts in late July.
"I know I'm a top player in the game, and my current contract doesn't justify that," Owens had said after hiring Rosenhaus.
"Every player is both fragile and talented," said Lurie, who was traveling Wednesday with NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue to a conference of chief executive officers in Beijing.
"Unfortunately, we're seeing around the league certain agents who take advantage of the fragility of the players, and are less worried about their continued success and stability than acting self destructively. It's too bad," he said.
Asked if he expects Owens to be with the Eagles next season, Lurie said, "If he wants to win a Super Bowl, he should be."
"At this level, with multimillions [of dollars], you're just trying to leave a legacy and win Super Bowls, as far as I am concerned. And he's got a great opportunity," Lurie said.
---This is a news clip from ESPN.com. What do you guys think? He made an instant impact on the Eagles last year. He is a big imposing dude. I know it prob. won't work with the salary cap and him possibly not being a "Core Player", or "Gibbs guy".

If we get T.O I'm quitting. I will only cheer when his pompas ass is not on the field. And I will make it clear that as a fan I do not want him here. That being said I don't think we want to spend the kind of money T.O is looking for. And even if we had that much space left I don't think Joe Gibbs would sign a deal with a guy he knows will be coming back again next year with his hand out. If you aren't staying for 4 years or whatever it was, don't sign the damned piece of paper.

T.O. would definitely spark Ramsey's career...
I know probably cannot afford him, but...
Honestly, who would we rather have...
T.O.
or Rod Gardner?
With our defense and a revamped offense, it could definitely be us in the Super Bowl this year. PLus, Joe likes them veterans!!!
(Mind you: I am not a fan of T.O.'s antics, and, yes, I believe his contract renogotiation is selfish.)

Back and better than ever!
I think T.O is worth more to us as an Eagle! This guy will hurt that "team" and is already causing problems.
Most of us here want a real NFL team not a "fantasy" team that only makes you feel good when you think about it!
Hopefully he's an Eagle this year, he's a cancer.

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

That's exactly what I was thinking. I hope he holds out the entire year, and drags the team down in the process. The only thing is that Lurie was saying it was a non-issue - which could mean that the Iggles management is doing something smart

Think of it. If he holds out, they will report on it every week. If he plays, he will have his own personal podium to say whatever he wants after the game. And if he doesn't get the dam ball as another receiver once said...
And this is May. Nothing has really happened yet. It gets worse as TC and preseason approach.
I hope he stays an iggle as well.

Without the slightest hesitation and beyond any reasonable doubt:REDEEMEDSKIN wrote:Honestly, who would we rather have...

Rod Gardner!
Gardner just drops 50% of the passes. TO sabotages the whole team and poissons the locker room. No brainer!
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

TO may be completely sabotaging his career right now. the eagles will NOT renegotiate with him. if he holds out, he will be fired and looking for a new team. who would sign him, after this? or at least, who would sign him to a long term, big money deal? the best he'd be able to hope for would be a string of 1 year contracts. no one would give him the big multiyear contract with the big signing bonus because they'd know they'd probably end up eating most of it.

Agent unsure of Owens holdout
"It's only May... . Everyone should just relax a little bit," Drew Rosenhaus told ESPN last night.
By Bob Brookover
Inquirer Staff Writer
Drew Rosenhaus, the agent for the Eagles' Terrell Owens, broke his camp's silence on the issue of the wide receiver's contract yesterday.
In an interview on ESPN's SportsCenter that lasted just over five minutes, Rosenhaus said Owens still has not decided whether he will attend training camp at Lehigh University, which is scheduled to begin Aug. 1 for the team's veterans.
"That's going to be something Terrell and I talk about," Rosenhaus said. "I try telling people who are up in arms right now that Terrell hasn't missed a game yet. It's only May.
"Everyone should just chill out. This is when you talk about contracts and things. We'll decide at the appropriate time, but everyone should just relax a little bit."
Attempts to speak to Rosenhaus last night were unsuccessful.
Owens, who has six years remaining on the $49 million deal he signed after being traded from Baltimore to the Eagles before last season, skipped the team's mandatory three-day minicamp two weeks ago and subjected himself to a $24,000 fine and the potential for a large portion of his $9.6 million signing bonus to be recouped by the team.
Rosenhaus was not asked about the fines or whether Owens was going to be at the team's voluntary minicamp that is scheduled for seven dates next month.
He was asked to respond to owner Jeffrey Lurie's statement this week to The Inquirer that the Eagles will absolutely not rework Owens' contract.
"It's his football team and he's obviously entitled to make those decisions, and we'll just have to take it one day at a time. Hopefully, he'll change his mind," Rosenhaus said.
"I have a lot of respect for the Eagles' organization... they're good people. I'm confident we can work this out with a positive result for everybody."
Asked what he wants the Eagles to do for Owens, Rosenhaus was evasive. "That's a discussion I hope to have in the near future with the Eagles and let me just leave it at that," he said.
Rosenhaus said Owens continues to remain silent about his contract issue because he felt his words were being taken out of context when he was interviewed last month about the contract issue.
Though the Eagles' minicamp two weeks ago was mandatory, Rosenhaus said he does not consider Owens a holdout until training camp. He insisted he is not a big fan of holdouts.
"In my opinion, technically, I don't have any holdouts right now," Rosenhaus said. "You can't label me as a guy that is involved in holdouts because we've got many, many more players who aren't involved in contract disputes."

Can not resist answering this question:die cowboys die wrote:if he holds out, he will be fired and looking for a new team. who would sign him, after this? or at least, who would sign him to a long term, big money deal?
The Raiders might be tempted.
Can you imagine having three of the most selfish, egotistic and selfserving WR in football playing in Silver and Black?
No, me neither. They would kill one another before they left the locker room.

This could be "fun"! I hope that Lurie not only fines him for missing the "mandatory" camp but also some of the signing bonus! Obviously TO has some interesting "definitions" of some old fashioned words like "contract" and "mandatory"!
I hope that Reid and Lurie do not "cave in" on this guy. It will be interesting to see if they have the "integrity" they would like us to think they have. I would be impressed if they stick to their position but not surprised if they don't!

You're kidding right? T.O. a skin? That's like saying JGibbs betrays the Skins and coaches the Cowboys.
"I was on the sideline and guys were talking about the score, and then it hit me -- we won by 21. I came in the locker room and I yelled it out, and immediately I just kind of broke down in tears. Because I miss Sean, you know."
