Let's say the Browns cut and run with this guy...Should we go after him or should we avoid all University of Miami players from now on?

Why would we sign a guy who might not even play this year? Who has possibly career threatening injuries?
Why is this scenario even being brought up?

Maybe we could employ him to do wheelies as part of the pregame entertainment?

I like the idea of him being the team clown for us, but there's no way we should get him. I thought he'd be an okay guy to get before but now, let's just say....I see the light!

How funny would it be if we got his home address or address at the browns facility or at the hospital and sent him a care package of a tricycle and told him that every SOLDIER needs a good RIDE and this one may be easier to operate. Get Well Soon. Regards, THEHOGS.NET :)

I may be in the minority, but if you have a chance to get a guy with that much potential tallet I think you jump all over it. Remember the experts said he may be the most tallented TE ever comming out of college. He never had a chance to show much of anything last year. In my opinion he would be a bigger threat to score in the red zone then Mike Williams.

There has never been a remote chance since Gibbs took over that anyone (even an NFL player!) like this will be considered for his team!

So far these "experts" have proven to not really have a clue about the potential of these players in a real NFL game. Maybe they may do well at Madden or EA Sports but they have no credibility when it comes to the "real" game.
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Sometimes, it takes hitting rock bottom to shake you up and turn your life around.

All joking aside, Winslow was desired by the Skins (albeit without his agents), and he could fit in well in Joe's system (that's why we debated this EVERY day last offseason).

If his rehab from these injuries leads to K2 growing up, and regaining his desire to play football, I think he'd be a great pickup. He might come cheap, as well.

Hopefully, too, he'd get rid of those jerks, the Postons....

...and hire Drew Rosenhaus. We work well with that guy.

My 100th post.......

Previous to his latest round of idiocy I would have gladly taken him on this team but now he has proven that he is just another thug wanna be and I say let him go to Dallas or wherever just not here.

I knew when I started this thread that Winslow wouldn't play this year -- I'm talking about taking a chance on him for next year - assuming the Browns cut him.

The guy is a immature knucklehead, for sure, but eventually he may realize he has to snap out of it -- then...you have a darn good TE and gave up nothing for him...

It's a chance you take -- ala TE Gates in SD. Does anyone believe SD knew for sure he'd be a stud? They took a chance. I'm more concerned with another Univ of Miami guy on our team!

THE NEWS

Browns' tight end Kellen Winslow is still hospitalized following his motorcycle accident last Saturday. The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the second-year player's internal injuries include a collapsed lunch, a lacerated kidney, and a lacerated liver. The injury that concerns team officials most is a knee injury, which doctors may not be able to operate on until his fractured femur heals two or three months from now.

OUR VIEW

Although nothing is official, fantasy owners should not count on using Winslow during the 2005 season. It's possible that he could recover from his other injuries and make a comeback at some point during the year, but that's only if his knee injury isn't as serious as team officials fear. We will continue to keep you posted on Winslow's condition as the team releases more information.

I can't see them cutting him. How much would that hit their cap let alone the wasted draft pick. Surely they'll try to get him ready for the 2006 season if he doesn't heal this year.

If he was cut, I'd want to bring him to camp to take a close look at his attitude as well as talent. Gibbs is the master man-manager who could surely control him.

But like I said, I can't see them cutting him.

I don't think they will try to recoup any money.

His deal was 6 years 40 million. But he didn't meet playing incentives in year one, so the maximum his 6 year deal can be is 29.4 million. He already lost out on 11 mil.

There has been no talk of asking for money back yet, and the Postons met with the FO about a week ago.

I think Cleveland will just want him to focus on getting healthy.

Why are we talking about a guy that might be out for the rest of his career... Or do we want him to come and get paid *cough*barrow*cough* to warm up the bench.

Police are still undecided on chargesAssociated Press

CLEVELAND -- Kellen Winslow remained hospitalized more than a week after sustaining internal injuries and damage to his right knee in a motorcycle accident.

"He's still in the hospital and we don't know when he will be getting out," Cleveland Browns coach Romeo Crennel said Monday. "We're hoping that he can recover soon."

The Browns have not provided an update on Winslow's status since releasing a statement Wednesday that said they were concerned about his knee.

Winslow was injured May 1 when he went flying over the handlebars of his newly purchased motorcycle at 35 mph.

Westlake police are still determining whether to charge Winslow with reckless operation, Lt. Ray Arcuri said. Arcuri said it's unclear exactly what Winslow was doing when the accident occurred.

The 21-year-old tight end, Cleveland's top pick in the 2004 draft, bought a powerful motorcycle last month and had a learner's permit, but ignored advice from fellow riders to get lessons.
