Once again, a Pro Wrestler has died in the prime of his life. Rick Rude, Von Erich (pick one),Pillman, Bossman, Yokozuna, Terry Gordy, Chris Adams, Davey Boy, Hennig, Hawk...Piper's dream of a unionized workforce is no closer to becoming a reality than it was ten years ago. Steroids, chronic drug/alcohol abuse, overexertion due to an inhuman work schedule...the life of the carnie has never been easy, but back in the day, they looked out for one another. In the modern world, there is so much that the organization they work for can do to ease the pain and suffering for the families left behind, and for the guys whose health takes a dump when their wrestling days are over.
How many more wrestlers have to die before somebody in Greenwich sees the light ?
RIP, Skip. The last in a long family line of wrestlers, you were a true pedigree. You'll be missed.

So sad...

The work schedule is inhuman, and not many people realize this. People think because wrestling is "fake" that it must not be physically exausting. That couldn't be further from the truth.

These guys are out there on an intense schedule consisting of house shows, tv matches and monthly pay per views. I doubt if a grappler even gets 2 weeks a year vacation, let alone the ammount of time they would need to actually heal...

I'm with you TC, I'd like to see wrestlers unionize, since Vince has a monopoly it's the only way to stick it to him! Unfortunately, there's so many people who want to wrestle for a living it gets hard to hold leverage :(

Hopefully Candido didn't die in vain and this will open up some eyes to the problems in wrestling.

 When did Yokozuna and the Bossman die????

I don't recall Chris Candido, but I do share the sentiment re: the early deaths of pro wrestlers; that just ain't right.

Of course, this makes one wonder how long some of today's stars will live. How much longer 'til The Rock or Stone Cold croak? What about The Undertaker and Kane? Since they both have a previous death (If I'm not mistaken), can they die? Also, will "The Immortal" Hulk Hogan pass on, or will we have to put up with more "one more" matches for ages to come?

RIP Chris Candido

Wrestlers ought to unionize. Their working conditions are undoubtedly dangerous, and they are being abused by their employers.

Both "When ?" questions are answered here.

If you're a fan, you might remember Candido as "Skip" from the "BodyDonnas" in the midlate 90's.

Thanks for the link TC. I noticed that most of the Old School wrestlers actually lived longer lives (Monsoon, Blassie, McDaniels. etc.), but the younger guys seem to not live past 50. That's way to young to die.

BTW -
Obsssedwithwrestling claims that Candido died from a blood clot following a recent surgery. The former BodyDonna's boy failed him.
