Cheerleaders

Post by Justice Hog »

I am dating this girl (who is my age) that said she actually tried out...and "made" the Eagles cheerleading squad back in the early 80s. Back then, she says that cheerleaders were paid $25/game and were only permitted to work part-time jobs other than cheerleading. They were also required to live in Philly.

Now, because she recognized there is no way she could live in Philly working a part-time job + $25/game as a cheerleader, she turned down the job.

She also suggested that cheerleaders aren't paid much more today.

Anyone have any idea what cheerleaders make today? I hope they get paid a hellofa lot more than that!

Remember in the "Replacements", that Shane Falco's girlfriend also had to work part time... :(

Yeah, but she owned a bar, which is wicked cool.

JH, sometimes Gregg Easterbrook talks about the cheerleaders and their pay in his Tuesday Morning Quarterback column on NFL.com. He makes it sound like they don't get paid very much, some small amount per game.

Hey thaiphoon. While you're at it. Give her my number! I'll PM you!

hehehehe

Seriously, those gals do a great job...and they perform at a lot of charity events.

I hope they get paid well. They deserve it.

Whether she emails you back depends on alot of things. She's a sweetheart though and my best friend was actually her Cheer coach in college so I've partied with her plenty of times (my friend and I and a bunch of his squad - including my redskinette friend - once played "strip hide and seek" when we were really drunk).

Yes, they end up doing alot of work and I can only imagine other than the trips they take that they don't get rewarded too well. I'll ask her next time I see her what the deal is. I haven't talked to her since midway through the season last year though so time to say hello again (without the wife finding out  )

I think they make $75 a game now.

All of the cheerleaders still have part/full time jobs to make due.

Not much has seemed to change except now I am almost the same age as them now.

If that's true, Jake..then that really sucks! My friend tells me that the club would only allow her to have a part-time job on the side, not a full-time job.

At the very least, I hope that has changed.

My wife was on the dance team in high school with one of the Redskins cheerleaders, who lists her occupation as "engineer."

my ex-girlfriend was a 49er cheerleader last year until she had to go to graduate school...I don't know what they made per game, but she said that they make most of their money on promotions and appearances. she got a lot of free outfits and i think a hundred every appearance she made, whether it was at a mall signing autographs or something like that...TV appearances was worth more...but without the promotions, i think they made about 200 a week for just showing up for practice and stuff....i can ask and make sure, but i think that's what she told me...

I went to highschool with "Manda" who is currently on our cheerleading roster. They make jack as a cheerleader alone. Most if not all of them have a fulltime job or go to school fulltime. There isn't a single cheerleader in the NFL who does it for the money. Most do it because they like the team, grew up as cheerleaders or want the face time on TV to advance their real careers. There are so many perks that come with being an NFL cheerleader, money is definitely not one of them.

Ok, so she isn't on the current roster anymore. :? I just checked the site, she must have moved on to do other things. She was from 98 to last year though. I'm not full of it, I swear!

She was one that I hoped would've stayed for a while. Total hotness. She always did get a ton of face time on game day. It was always fun trying to point her out to whoever I went to the game with or whoever I watched the game with. The "it's a small world" story will not work anymore. Oh well...

Haha, I know right. Pretending is no fun though. Maybe they wanted to go younger with the squard or maybe she finally landed a job as a teacher. Didn't have time. Who knows. I haven't talked to her since h.s.

I'm digging up a thread from a while ago.

http://www.redskins.com/cheerleaders/

In the image with the 4 cheerleaders "Manda" is the 3rd from left, 2nd from the right. But she doesn't have a profile on the site anymore. Weird...

Actually I think I'm having a cache issue.

The above URL has the picture with her in it.
