Campell= Ramsey
http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/player ... pbell.html
Strengths: Has excellent size...Has a big league arm and can make all the throws...Top natural athletic ability...Can run and scramble a little...Solid character and a hard worker...Still has a lot of upside and potential and may have turned the corner in 2004.
Weaknesses: Has been very inconsistent throughout his career...Doesn't read defenses well...Holds onto the ball too long and doesn't have a great feel for the pass rush...Makes poor decisions...Has to work on his technique and mechanics...Was aided by a tremendous running attack and great defense.
Notes: Highly touted recruit who finally began living up to his potential as a senior after a very up and down career...Was a one year wonder but has all the physical tools and will likely be among the top handful of signal callers drafted...Boom or bust type of prospect.
Joe Gibbs is sick of Ramsey's mistakes and problems, so he drafts a Qb with the same weakness as Ramsey. Basically the same Qb. Good job Joe. Ramsey put up stunning numbers in college and actually produced. This guy was carried the whole time buy his team and was given everything on a silver platter. This makes no sense at all.

Sure Skinz domin8 but don't forget to include with that all the ones that the fans bitched and moaned about that went on to do great things.
I don't understand the point of this thread John Mandfreda, we all know how you feel already. I think maybe you need a few days to get over this. Breathe and remember that no one even really knew who Chris
ey was last year. And he ended up being our star rookie. Things will work out. They always do.

I agree completely. Anyone remember Heath Shuler? That kid played the "college game" at a pretty high level. Once in the NFL, however, he was a complete dude.
Notwithstanding, I think Ramsey will pull it together this year.

This shows that drafting this guy was dum. He gave up too much for the type of Qb he already hates, look at the weaknesses of this guy, holds on to the ball to long, can't read defenses, doesn't do the check downs well. I am not sure that Ramsey's tendency's are as bad as they say, but I know this guys are.
How do you know that John? Have you ever seen this guy play an NFL game? Have you ever seen him run Joe Gibb's offense? I don't know how much more of this kind of crap I can put up with. I may just leave and come back during the regular season when you people can act like you have some common sense. Your exact line about the QB that he hates I heard on Sportstalk 980 today. So now I know why you are all bent out of shape. Turn off the radio and form your own opinion. Don't let the masses form it for you.

Let me ask all of you guys this.
Why couldn't we have waited until draft day to get Denver's pick and see where the draft was going?
He would have been DEFINITELY available in the second round and we wouldn't have gotten hosed again by Denver. What if the Packers got him at 24? Would we have Rogers?

Let me give you an elementary amount of insight regarding this pick. Gibbs doesn't care about Ramsey because he is not "his". This is how all coaches are. Campbell is "his" pick - that means the guy that he likes and is putting his reputation on the line for. Now its time to stop your incessant bitching or continue and become an Eagles fan.

I will ask a kindergarten question then.
I thought Brunell was Gibbs "guy" right?

I should Andy Reid knows what the hell he is doing.
The only problem I see with Jason Campbell is that he puts the same muscle into the ball on a six yard slant as he would on a thirty yard bomb.
Typical of a young guy. It can be unlearned, and Joe is just the guy to do it.
I think that the question that goes unasked is, "Would Joe have drafted Patrick Ramsey ?"

No, Brunell was brought in because he likes Veterans. Campbell is "his" guy because he will have the opportunity to groom him into the exact quarterback mold that the system needs to succeed kind of like he did with a 6th round draft pick in '86 (AKA Mark Rypien). I don't necessarily like Campbell at the #25 pick, but you gotta have a little faith. Gibbs actually knows football, we know nothing compared to him.

I've wondered that several times over the past two days. I imagine that he probably would have, but I guess we'll never know for sure.

Much, much, would rather have Campbell. He is a pure diamond in the rough and should be spectacular if given the chance.
***Poster of the Year*** Hail to the Redskins. Everything else is inferior. Guess who's not a HOMER on this site.
Campbell is now a Redskin and I will root for him. Coulda, woulda, shoulda. Whatever. The kid has skills. Let us wait and see what he can do (over the next few YEARS) before we decide to crucify the one man that brought glory to the Skins in the first place. The Skins are a storied franchise because of Gibbs. If he saw something in the kid then I think we can give him the benefit of the doubt.
She turned me into a newt! ...I got better.
There are a number of differences between Ramsey and Campbell. First, is size, Campbell is 2" taller and at 6'4" that is big. Campbell is heavier and thus has more bulk to withstand hits. Second, Campbell is more athletic. HE CAN RUN. He's no McNabb but he can roll out and make passes. Gibbs loves moving pockets and Campbell can perform in that scheme; Ramsey cannot. As far as decison making goes that is true of almost all rookie QBs. Problem is Ramsey has been in the league for 3 years and he still makes poor decisions. Now don't get me wrong...I think Ramsey will start this year and improve his game. But Gibbs realizes Ramsey might only be here another 1-2 years so he has picked his successor. I think that is very, very smart. Does that mean Campbell will succeed? No one and I mean no one knows for sure, but at least Gibbs and Co have someone on board who they think has all the tools to succeed.
