No Virginia, we will not score points
Our needs on offense have not been addressed. We have the weakest WR's in our conference, the weakest TE. Our OL is mistake prone and average at best, even with Jansen back. Our outstanding players are a second year HB, a RB who takes too great a pounding, and a QB who doesn't have the confidence of his coach.
The record will depend on how many games the defence can win for us. Go Skins, in spite of the FO.

I disagree. It definitely won't be an offensive juggernaut, but i think they will imrpove.
Ramsey will get all the reps and start from week 1. Portis will hopefully have a healthy offensive line this year (one that's had another year to gel together) increasing his potential to break off more home runs a la Tampa Bay first run from scrimmage. Additionally, they added two fullbacks to help the goalline offense convert more drives into touchdowns rather than FGs.
Finally, people can dwell all they want on the personnel, but I think THE MOST IMPORTANT thing with respect to the Skins' offense this year will be how Gibbs' playbook has adjusted. If he continues to run wide receiver screens and slow developing counters, defenses will continue to attack the offense and they'll have limited success. I hope to see more sprints and draws our of the backfield. And I wish they would study some Eagles' tape and learn how to run a screen to Portis properly.
The bottom line is getting the ball in your best players' hands and giving him room to run. I just hope they can do it.

not to mention that having a bruiser who can get that 3rd and 1 or short yard at the goal line will take some pounding off of portis, leaving him free to save his energies for the 65 yard td runs

The improvements along the offensive line, such as Rabach and the return of Jansen, and the drafting of Manuel White will improve the running game. Portis will remain much more fresh throughout the season without having to take the short yardage situations. The reciever situation will take care of itself. We have good overall speed at the position and I for one am happy that we are going to use in house players at the position. I think the recievers we have on hand will be better starters than the corners we had on hand. This will be a much better year in terms of offense.
Still Loyal. Go Skins!

Last years stats:
Moss/Patten = 1638 yrds, 18.4 Yd/Rec, 12 TD's
Owens/Pinkston = 1876 yrds, 17.2 Yd/Rec, 15 TD's
Burress/Toomer = 1445 yrds, 17.25 Yd/Rec, 5 TD's
Johnson/Glenn = 1381 yrds, 15.35 Yd/Rec. 8 TD's
------
I would hardly say we have the weakest wideouts in the division... maybe not biggest, or big named... but not the weakest... and we might have the weakest TE, but we've got the best H-Back...
since we don't really use the TE for passing as much.... I partially agree with your O-line opinion... all though I believe we made an improvement adding Raubach...

Just a comment but don't you think O line can be addressed rather inexpensively in the next few weeks. Players are going to be going left and right because of the cap space issue. I am counting on picking up a few players that way and I'm not even a coach. Just think of what Joe Gibbs is doing!

You can make stats imply anything you'd like, but seeing how Johnson and Glenn produced those numbers in 24 games between the two instead of 32 and Burress, Toomer and Owens were also injured last year, those comparisions aren't accurate.
There's not a GM in the division that would trade their top two for Washington's.
Offensively, within the division, one could argue that Washington only has the best player at any position at HB, and even that's not cut and dried between Portis/Barber.

so what? Johnson & Glenn had as many receptions as Moss & Patten had... infact they had 5 more... same with Buress & Toomer.... number of games means jack...
No GM would trade any of their WR for the other... none of them are spectacular... and the only one that is, has an attitude problem...

Yea, you'd have to describe them as below average at best.
Be fair, they're getting Jansen back. He'll magically make everyone else play better.

Two questions:
1) Do you believe adding a Pro Bowl caliber right tackle exacerbates the lines' problems? Note, I did not ask whether Jansen is a panacea.
2) Is that the same kind of magic that causes dry heaves?

With Jansen back, Randy Thomas won't have to cheat over to help, which in turn won't leave the center exposed, not to mention we upgraded the center position.
RIP 21

That would be great...but really hard to do.
The Packers were devoted to Walker, and Favre picks a guy and goes to him often.
Sterling Sharp, Antonio Freeman, Driver a couple years ago.
Those were his go to guys.
I can see Gibbs spreading the ball around. And even though he said he will open up the passing game I still don't think he trusts Ramsey.
The good thing about Jacobs is that he has been at practice lately and getting chemistry with Ramsey while Coles is gone, Gardner is out, and Moss is sipping on a pina colada.
burp.

Allen > Whomever Washington throws out there
Johnson > Rabach - Probably the closet position

Face it, there are probably 20 O-lines I'd take over the Redskin's line right now. That makes them below average.
Dallas has a top 10 line, at least on paper.

Ray Brown is 42 years old. Dockery is penalty prone and likely to miss his assignments, as well as jump offsides if Samuels doesn't do it first (we threaten to set records for penalties year after year, remember), Samuels is inconsistent from year to year, constantly making comebacks and last year repeatedly let his man tackle Portis from the rear. Thomas is a fine player but past his time as a all pro performer. Jansen had a bad year with Spurrier before being hurt last year and is two years from being a star. Casey has been a first stringer for one year and is not regarded as a top athlete, or haven't you read the scouting reports. Royal is a below average blocker.
Where is the great OL line you project going to come from-- your imagination?
It has a dismal record of protecting the passer and opening holes for runners, as well as punching it across from the one. Was all of that record Spurrier's fault, or Raymer's? If we don't get a top WR in a trade and a Top TE you'll see real quick how far this OL will take us.

This just in, Sammy Baugh thre interceptions, Art Monk dropped a pass, darell Green got beat OMG let's panic and run around proclaiming how bad the Skins are. Newsflash everyone is human, the OL will be better and unless Mike Williams could walk on water like certain bandwagoners believe he could, we made the right pick with Carlos Rogers
Go Skins it's what I've been saying all my life
