What we could of gotten
9th- Mike Williams
25th- Heath Miller
the from there on are ok but still need to upgrade at DE and at RB (not sold on Betts, love Portis).
Dumb picks-? none to me

we could have gotten mike williams with 9th and marlin jackson with 25th...we get a stud WR and a CB that can play right away...
or stick with carlos rogers at 9...heath miller at 25...and still get jerome mathis from hampton in the 4th
i like either one of those scenerios better than our actual draft...but i like the robert mccune pick...either way, i'm not SEVERELY dissapointed, i heard a lot of good arguments for why we got campbell and it sounds somewhat logical...

This is what he should have done. If he did we would have made the playoffs and would have been a real high powered offense with a top ten d.
Only the Redskins would leave the 30th ranked offense alone and try to improve the second ranked defense.

Chad
I'd rather get adrian mcpherson in the 4th or 5th round, then campbell in the first...

Yeah..that way he can forge his own pay check and it won't count against the salary cap.

Well, if the offense could have scored a mediocre average of 21 points a game last year we would have gone 14-2. Instead we average an abysmal 15 points a game and had a 6-10 record. Those numbers don't even take into account how much easier the defense would have had it if the offense sustained more drives! Defense wins championships but offense has to be at least average.
Build through the draft!

I agree - go back through the games and look at how many games we were close and which we could've actually won had the offense either:
1.) Held onto the damned ball instead of turning it over for the opposing team's defensive TD (a free 6 points)
2.) Sustained drives in the 3rd and 4th quarter in order wear down the other team's defense and keep their offense off the field.
For #1 ... I actually used to joke with coworkers that we should just spot the other team 7 points (TD+XP) right after the coin toss and before kickoff in order to spare us the embarrassment, since we went so many games in a row either fumbling or throwing an INT for a defensive TD.
Roddy White, Heath Miller, Reggie Brown, Marlin Jackson..... these are all guys being mentioned in conjuction with our 25th pick.
Come on guys. Would you actually trade a 1, 3, and 4 to get one of those 4 players? That's insane. At least with Campbell he plays a premium position where the Redskins (regardless of what anyone says) are NOT set. Campbell could go on to be a star QB making the trade totally worth it.
We need to see the big picture here. It's true that just for the 2005 season our best move would probably have been taking Williams and CB Jackson to fill in for Smoot. However, if Campbell does mature into the QB that no less an authority than JOE GIBBS believes he will be, then I think we made all the right moves.
Gibbs knew he was gonna take Campbell at 25 and he also knew that he had to have a CB if we were gonna continue to use the heavy blitz packages that Williams loves. So he took Rogers at 9. Now we have a cornerback that is gonna be better than Smoot ever was, and a QB who Joe Gibbs believes is gonna be great.
I'm feeling pretty good about this draft.

R.I.P. Christopher Wallace (May 21, 1972 - March 9, 1997)
R.I.P. Sean Taylor (April 1, 1983 - November 27, 2007)

I wouldn't have traded up for a second 1rst rounder in a weak draft and given up those picks to do it in the first place.
Like I've said before, you'd better be right. Campbell better be the next frigging Montana for what we gave up.
Oh yeah and to make out better than the Broncos, we have to make it at least to the 2nd round of the playoffs next year or they end up with a better 1rst than they gave up.
