compensation picks next year?

Post by MEZZSKIN »

Lookling at the Campell trade its just getting better and better..First off we have 2 4's now which in this draft is almost like having a 3 and 4(actually is slight down grade..but all depends who we get here) ...and secondly next year we should some high compenstion picks for pierce and smoot(if im correct)..which means we could have two more late 3's next year...so trading our 4th is a drop in bucket next year.....The picture is really starting to clear

Yeah if we could snag two third rounders for the loss of those guys it would really make up for it. Pierce IMO is a system linebacker anyway and Smooty is overrated

We won't get two third rounders. The compensatory picks are awarded based on the number of players lost, and their perceived value total. So Smoot + Pierce, their salaries (which were fairly low) and their post-season honors (which were decent but not stellar) means we will be lucky to get one very late third rounder but more than likely we'll get later round picks.

I think you have to factor in the players you got too, so:
(Rabich + Patten) - (Smoot + Pierce) = ? (maybe a 4th & 5th?)
I'm just stirrin' the pot and living in the '70s.

Yeah, then factor in that they are the LAST picks in that round, so really more like 5th or 6th rounders. I'll take whatever they give us though. Tom Brady, Terrell Davis, Zach Thomas were all 5th or 6th rounders.
