Explain the Campbell Pick
With all the abuse I'm taking for me opinion regarding the Jason Campbell pick, I would like to ask one of the "scouting experts" to explain why this is not grounds for concern. The Skins already have 3 QBs under contract why add another? Doesn't the team have more pressing needs like adding a solid Pass Rusher? And why would they trade so many picks? Obviously they are trying to rebuild under Gibbs and now they've crippled themselves for next years draft by trading away the first and fourth pick to get Campbell. Shelling out tons of money to free agents that may or may not pan out is not the answer but neither is trading away a significant amount of picks for a player that's really not needed. No way is Campbell worth a 1st, 3rd and 4th pick. No way!!!

Here are my thoughts on the pick...
1st- Gibbs feels we are pretty much set with the players we have. I happen to agree.
2nd-He's molded Ramsey as much as he can, now it's time to push him into stardom or failure.
3rd-Gibbs sees big potential in Campbell. So much so, that if Ramsey falls, Campbell will be able to step in in his 2nd year and take over.

Read the interview
http://www.redskins.com/news/newsDetail.jsp?id=6596
Read the interview. The kid is a level head and to his credit, the coordinator that finally brought out the best in him brought out one hell of a QB. I see him doing awesome things. When it comes down to it, lets not fret over this pick and knock it into the ground. Worse things are going on in the world. We as fans get all wrapped up and upset over decisions made. Patrick goes down with an ACL and do we go to Brunell. I wouldnt like that too much. The decision was made and we as fans must open our arms to the kid, barring he makes a jerk out of himself like some of our players. HAHA. Guys cheer up! Life goes on. We will win and win soon. I see PSU winning national championship and SKINS winning the superbowl within the next 2 years

Your 1st point - I'm not sold that the Skins have all the players they need. I'll admit the defense was solid last season but the offense struggled. Picking up Moss and Patten are OK, but what about the third wide-out? Gardner wants out, so that's a position that needs to be looked at. Also when Jansen went down last season the O-line fell apart so that's another area.
2nd - I can accept that.
3rd - Potential may be there but remember Gibbs thought he saw potential in Brunell. Add giving up so many picks to get Campbell makes the deal even more critical. I just feel like the Skins gave up too much. Similar to when Quincy Carter was drafted by that other team.

i don't really agree with the campbell pick. i thought they could use some help at reciever or tight end. mike williams and the guy from UAB were both there along with heath miller from virginia.
what i really wanted to touch on was the current washington quarterback situation. #11 Patrick Ramsey, doesn't he remind you a little of #11 Mark Rypein, a superbowl winner? how about #17 jason campbell, doesn't he look a little like #17 Doug Williams, another superbowl winner. i don't know, maybe a sign, maybe chance.

Or maybe it's just stereotyping.
I got your number. I steal your thunder. I got your mother's maiden name tattooed on my arm.
It was a ridiculous trade to begin with, but that's in the past. I don't think there's a team in the whole NFL whose roster is set, much less the Skins, so that argument doesn't hold water.
I know this is going to inflame some people but I think the desperation shown by Gibbs to move into a position to draft this QB means he does not have enough confidence in Ramsey, to put all of his eggs in that basket. I think this is a make or break season for Ramsey because Gibbs obviuously is not as enamoured with him as most fans are.

Build through the draft!

I find it funny that so many people who would have asked that we chop off Brunnel's head, are upset when Gibbs makes a move toward getting rid of him.
Face it. I like Ramsey too. But Joe Gibbs is the one who has been studying each and every snap that the guy has taken. Gibbs is the one who sees the guy in practice. Gibbs is the guy who has evaluated Jason Campbell's four years of football.
Im sorry. We may not like the pick. But unless you ordered the game film and practice reels on these two guys...your disdain towards Campbell is unmeritorious. Give it time. I was at the field today and I too was pi**ed off, but guess what.
Rogers and Campbell are now Washington Redskins, and the presence of those two players doesn't make me want to change teams.

so we basically drafted a first rounder (campbell) to sit on the bench. Wow so smart.
When you make a mistake, don't look back at it long. Take the reason for the mistake into your mind, and then look forward. Mistakes are lessons of wisdom. The past cannot be changed. The future is yet in your power. - JORDAN
I'M CONFUSED ALSO...I THOUGHT HASSELBHOFF LOOKED PRETTY GOOD LAST YEAR IN PRESEASON? I THOUGHT BRUNELL SUCKED. IF RAMSEY GOES DOWN WHY COULDN'T HASSELHOFF FILL IN? I TRUELY BELIVE THAT GIBBS WANTS A QB THAT CAN FLOAT PASSES SOMETIMES. BRUNELL IS GOOD AT THAT BUT HAS NO ARM FOR THE LONG BALLS ANYMORE. RAMSEY BULLETS THE BALLS ALL OVER THE PLACE. SHORT OR LONG HE DRILLS THEM AND WR ARE HAVING A HARD TIME CATCHING THEM IN SHORT YARDAGE. HE NEEDS TO LEARN TO USE A SOFT TOUCH ON SHORT PASSES AND DRILL THEM ON MEDIUM AND LONG PASSES. HE ALSO HAS TROUBLE WITH THE LOB TO THE CORNER OF THE END ZONE. IT USUALLY ENDS OVER THE WR HEAD OR DRILLED TO HARD.

lol, your not serious right? of course you draft a QB to sit. That's how they learn and turn into great QBs. Your not supposed to draft a QB and then throw him into the fire. That's just what everyone seems to do these days because their fans have no patience....
