Overrated: Jason Campbell, Auburn

Post by oafusp »

ok...less than 48 hours until the DRAFT.

So I am going to make another post about Campbell.

Yeah...this kids name did not even pop up on this board until 2 days ago.

First...I DON'T think the Skins would be foolish enough to get him. Gibbs already made a QB mistake with Brunell last year and that cost us a 3rd round pick and a big chunk of salary cap.

Do you honestly think Gibbs would pick this kid in return for what will cost a 2 first round picks (2005/2006), a 3rd (2005), and a 4th (2006)???? Nope...he could get Alex Smith for that price.

Ramsey was, and IS our guy.

Here is a writers take on Campbell:

Overrated: Jason Campbell, Auburn
There's no denying Campbell was as good as any quarterback in the country his senior season and arguably the most important contributor to the Tigers' 13-0 season. At nearly 6-foot-5 and with a strong release, he's physically impressive. But one strong year shouldn't completely override the three previous, weak ones. For most of his career, Campbell struggled with the mental aspect of the game, making poor decisions and struggling to pick up offensive schemes. He finally thrived in the West Coast offense employed by his fourth coordinator in as many years, Al Borges, but several of Borges' predecessors found themselves simplifying their playbooks as much as possible to appease Campbell. As SI.com's Peter King reported last week, Campbell scored a less-than-impressive 14 on his first attempt at the Wonderlic test last year. NFL coaches won't have the time or patience to wait another four years for him to grasp a pro offense.

14 ON THE WONDERLIC....the kid couldn't handle Joe Gibbs offense. All the shifting...etc.
Ramsey is a SMART kid. Campebell is a tool box.

Now, lets put this rumor to bed.

Totally agree, I have a feeling we´ll get a very good offensive weapon so Ramsey can throw at him.

Don't know if the Skins are going to get him, but he is a pretty good QB. Given a couple of years as a sub, he could be a star. You got to remember the guy had 4 different OC in college, I don't think many Qb's could do as good as he did in that situation. He still had over 60% completion all four years I believe, he's big, and can move around good.

Drafting him would be a mistake. Ramsey has proven himself and should not be challenged this year.

Campbell is overrated, he quite frankly isn't intelligent enough to play QB in the NFL.

My top five QBs are Smith, Charlie Frye, David Greene, Kyle Orton and Aaron Rodgers in that order.
This space reserved for BTP......If he ever wins it.

I like how we are allegedly conducting an in house investigation to discover the source of the leak of our interest in Campbell.

This one will make me laugh for years to come.

It has been reported that we are interested in Matt Jones, Erasmus James, trading up for Edwards, Jason Campbell, Mike WIlliams, Shawn Merriman, Heath Miller.

Gibbs knows how to play this game. Last year we were absolutely going to take KW II.

To say that Green and Orton are better than Campbell is a complete joke. You could make arguments for Rodgers and Frye, and Alex Smith IS better, but man thats just an insult to Campbell

I should say that that was a list of how they'll do as pros, not how they'll be picked. I have Andrew Walters ar #6 and then Campbell. The wildcard is Orvlosky, I just haven't seen a enough tape on him to get a good read.

My sleeper's the kid out of Cincinatti.

My best UDFA is Zack Mills if he ever gets his shoulder healthy.

And to say my opinion's a joke is a joke in and of itself. Feel free to disagree, but I've been very successful over the years at getting things pretty correct.

I nominate oafusp to replace Vinny Cerrato at the front office of the Washington Redskins.
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

I nominate AssClown McFartpop to kick Dan Snyder in the nuts and boycott the Redskins until they get their head out of their ass.
