We are the NFL's laughing stock...
I keep reading all of the posts about everyone questioning all of the bonehead moves that we have made this year, and then someone chiming in and saying "i trust Gibbs", or "if Gibbs is doing it, then its ok" and stuff like that. I love Gibbs, and I love the Redskins. But being a skins fan is tough!! All the ups and downs (more downs than anything else lately). All the moves every year for nothing. I really think that we need a GM. I know that this has been brought up before, but hear me out. The Wizards were a laughing stock in the NBA, even with the great Micheal Jordan!! They go and make one of the smartest moves in franchise history by hiring Ernie Grunfeld to be the GM. 1 year later they are the 5th seed in the East in the PLAYOFFS!!! Evey day you're reading about Cerrato and Gibbs contradicting each other. The whole thing is confusing and poorly run! Maybe it is all smoke and mirrors, but i highly doubt it. We can exhaust ourselves on trade scenarios and all that, and its fun, but in the end, we all know that we are going to pay too much again on saturday or sunday. I still think that Portis for Bailey should have been straight up. I think that the Coles trades was absurd, and we may not even get that bum Moss at that!! Don't even get me started on Moss, Taylor, and Arrington. Trading away all those picks this week gives us some chips to bargain with, but even that was too much, and i'm sure that we'll give up a whole lot more than the return that we will get this weekend. Isn't being a Redskin fan fun??

Like Boss aludes to, the press has severely misunderstood and mistaken teh context of the quotes they get out of Redskins park.
It is sad we have to have our office hold press conferences to clear everything up, but thank the Lord they do that.
Everything will be just fine, not just because of Gibbs, but because we have solid players and depth this year, and little to no turnover on the coaching staff and personel.

Hey Skinsare#1, if you feel so compelled to call out every bonehead move that is made by them. Why dont you walk up to Redskins Park and hand Dan Snyder your resume for a job. Im sure you would go bald or grey after 2 weeks on the job knowing you are making like 2M a year and are always under the microscope and can possibly get fired for moves you make. The sad part of the whole thing is that these people are putting their careers on the line by trusting 20-30 year old men will make them look good. Failure isnt just an option, its a certainty sometimes. Sometimes luck wins out and sometimes it doesnt. Give these people a break. If your wife pisses you off, do you pubicly bash her? No. SO if you are a true skins fan then sit back and hope this team does all it can do to try and get to the Super Bowl. You cant fault people for TRYING THEIR BEST!

Greetings from NYC: Finally we are heading in the right direction and everyone is in a panic! Thank god we are not bringing in high priced free agents that are past thier prime. Joe Gibbs knows and is doing what's right both for the present and the long run! As far as conflicting statements do people actully believe that we are going to announce our drafts palns to the world?
A pig must be over 185lbs before he can be called a Hog!
All the moves every year for nothing.
This is ridiculous on its face, do you actually bother to follow the team? Yes, the Redskins have made mistakes in free agency but they've had successes as well, for the most recent examples see Sean Springs and Marcus Washington. Try not to engage in baseless hyperbole.
Evey day you're reading about Cerrato and Gibbs contradicting each other.
Again, this is totally false. Unless you make a point of reading the same story every day. Which would be odd to say the least. But one instance of a contradiction does not translate to every day.
You have every right to criticize the team and question its judgements but when you do so, be certain you have all the facts at your disposal.
RIP Sean Taylor

Welcome to the three new members of the board above.
Reserve judgment until AFTER the draft. I still do not understand some moves but we all will soon.

Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

Dear SkinzAre#1
It is tough being a Skins fan, fellow fans love to see a team that won a lot now scraping around with the rest of the alsorans! The NFL season promises hope and joy and provides sorrow and despair! But when your are down just for imagine being born a Dallas Fan, you would be forced to wear a stupid blue star and have the brain the size of an ant's toe nail. Imagine being born in Cleveland and having your team up and move only to replaced by a team that looks the same but just can't play football.
Remember buddies things could be a lot worse...GO SKINS

A) Like RICanada said - reserve judgment until after the draft - heck, until training camp or preseason for crying out loud.
B)re: Cerrato and Gibbs contradicting each other and the media - Have you ever heard of a team, country or business putting up smoke and mirrors to throw people off the path? They're smart men who very well could be playing the media (even Gibbs' trip to Auburn could be part of this). Even if it's not the case, like Boss said, don't believe everything you read. The media is not inside Gibbs' head so they don't know what is really going on.
C) Are any of us professional scouts or do we work in a pro franchise's front office? If so, I'd like that persons input b/c all of us are a bunch of amateurs looking in from the outside. We don't know what's going on in Gibbs and Co's head or how much time has gone into this process (with Gibbs, I guarantee there have been many sleepless nights). So, be patient...

I think it's fun... who wants to root for a team that's boring?
We're always going to be a laughing stock until we become a legitimate playoff team... we've been on the cusp the past few years... we just haven't found what can get us over the hump...
but anybody who's a die-hard, right or wrong, you got to love them and support them...

I agree with everything he has done up until this trade. First of all Coles was never really good especially last year. The only reason he had 90 receptions is because Ramsey could fire it in there. All his receptions came when Ramsey was Qb. Not all but most. Pierce is a system player, Smoot was never that good. When was the last time he covered the number 1 reciever? Oh wait he never did. Moss is missing volentary workouts, not mandatory. Only two people are missing that is a lot of people showing up. Last time he did a trade like this we got Chris
ey. I think he turned out pretty good. Well maybe that is just me.

Now don't get me wrong now. My screen name says it all. I am a die hard Skins fan, and I'm crazy about them. I love reading all of these messages and seeing all of the excitement and speculation. I guess i'm just a little skeptical about the direction that we are going in. I really want to see us at least get back to the playoffs! I do agree with the BossHog that i got caught up in the media and started to believe what i was reading (against my normal instinct). I hope that these are smoke screens. Either way, its always interesting year round being a skins fan. Go skins!!

patience. every team goes through these ups and downs. life in the 80's was awesome. 4 superbowls in less than ten years. making the playoffs was expected. now we're supposedly a laughing stock. but we'll get back to being respected. it's a cycle.
i live in patriots country, and i'm constantly telling pats fans to enjoy this time now, because in a few years, who knows how good they'll be.
look at the niners. the team of the 80's. now they're a contender for the 1st draft pick every year. look at the cowboys. team of the 90's. they've been through some rough times lately (let's take a moment to enjoy that.......ahhh).
the point is that things will turn around. we're not destined to be this awful forever. and when when joe is holding the lombardi trophy once again, you can turn to the doubters and hecklers and ask, 'sorry, what was that you were saying....?'

I too believe that some of the fans on this board have an un-based blind faith, in everything Joe Gibbs does.
We should evaluate only after he has finished his second cycle with us, just as we have evaluated his first tenure in DC.
He had more great than lousy moments in his first go-round.
That being said, the only real thing left to do, as a fan, is wait and see. Don´t prejudge, but also don´t believe blindly in EVERYTHING we do.
We must be patient.

Hello and happy thursday before the draft to all! Here is my two cents into the world thinking that we are a laughing stock, I DONT CARE WHAT ANYBODY THINKS ABOUT OUR TEAM! I think all too many times we sit back and worry about what the rest of the league believes we are doing. Who cares what a Jets fan thinks of our transactions, or a Cowboys fan says about Dan Snyder. The truest Redskin fan stands by their team through thick and thin, and when somebody says a negative about us, we simply say, im sorry thats your opinion. We have the greatest team in all the NFL, we have the most $$$$$$$ franchise on the planet next to Manchester United, we have the greatest coach in the world in Gibbs, and we do have the greatest fans in all the world as well. Lets all sit back and enjoy this offseason, give a bit of credit to the people who are paid millions of dollars yearly to do their scouting jobs and when the time comes the REDSKINS WILL RISE AGAIN!!! WE WILL RISE AGAIN!!

trust gibbs
we don't say trust gibbs for any reasons but the fact he went after cooley and cooley led the team in touchdowns last year the messed up part is if we do get edwards or williams you'll be the first one saying what a good idea it was
