Redskins to trade into top 4?
That is what this article says:
'Skins trying to move up to get Edwards

The Washington Redskins have already made one trade to get a first round pick and are now trying to make another move to get even higher in the opening stanza.
FOXSports.com has learned that the Redskins phoned teams in the top four on Wednesday, including the 49ers, who own the first pick, to inquire about moving up to one of the crown jewel selections of the draft. While the Redskins have not told teams who they covet, front office sources said they are trying to make a move for Michigan WR Braylon Edwards.
The Redskins have long been wheelers and dealers, so attempting to make their second move into the first round this week should come as no surprise. While Washington would like to make such a deal, they may not have enough ammunition, especially since they have already traded away their No. 1 pick in the 2006 draft.
Edwards is widely coveted as the draft's top receiver and could go as high as No. 3 to Cleveland or even No. 2 to the Dolphins. The 49ers will not select him with the first overall selection as they are still targeting Utah QB Alex Smith, even if they cannot work a pre-draft deal with Smith's agent, Tom Condon.

I'm just glad it's almost here. These idiot so called reporters are really starting to irritate me with all this made up crap they are spewing. I've lost a little respect for a couple espn guys whom I respected before.
Doesn't it just seem like Espn as a whole is crossing over more and more to entertainment rather than sporting news?
Seems like they don't even need multiple sources or anything for a story. One guy says this is what's going down and they just print it as fact. They don't even call em rumors anymore. They just say inside sources, or state as fact that this team is doing this. Almost never comes to fruition either. I'm getting pretty tired of it myself.
If they keep this up, I think I'll ban ESPNs website from my computer. I'll still listen to Dan on the radio, but he doesn't pull this kinda stuff.

Its all smoke and mirrors; both the Phins and the Vikes say they want Edwards (source for Phins is the Miami Herald) so something is going on there. It seems to me that all the everyone is playing poker and waiting to see who blinks..to stretch the analogy further I hope we have an ace up our sleeve! Personally I think we have more individual holes that need filling than one big one that needs to be addressed by trading for an even higher pick

If this is true, isn't it a little too extreme? It's like trading five players for one. (2 1st Round picks, 2 third rounders, and a fourth rounder) I don't think this deal is going to go down....that's just TOO much for one player.

i read somewhere that cerrato admitted that, in an effort to explore all the available options, they've contacted every team ahead of them. i think it's standard procedure at this point before the draft. i wouldn't take it too seriously until something actually happens. the draft and trade runors are flying this time of year, and reporters are just trying to make a splash.

Whatever it is, something smells fishy in Washington. They're saying things but I think they're keeping a secret inside. They're going to do something as unexpected as the Denver trade very very soon.
JGibbs trading 3 picks for a 25th overall?? There's something fishy here....he's planning somehting massive.

ok I maybe way off here but I thought the Browns did not have anyone a QB so they went and brought in Garcia. And because he did not work out for them this year I thought thats why they traded him. They did not get any QB in return for him so if I'm not mistaken the Browns have no one at QB right now. So why on earth would they pass up the opportunity to get a great QB to start molding within the top 4 picks to simply pick a WR? I'm not saying they probubly don't need a WR but I would think having a QB to run the offense would be more important. Their WR were not all that bad last year and then throw in their TE draft pick from last year and they should do pretty good. I just don't see them picking a WR when they need a QB more.

They're probably thinking the same thing but they're just not reciting it to the media.

I'd like to see us trade the #9 for lower picks and then use the 25 on whoever the best available player is.

If this were the case, and we moved up.... he'd really have to be great.... if he turns into a bust, we'd really be the laughing stock of the NFL....
I've liked what I've seen of the kid though... he's got a great attitude/work ethic.... I just don't know if it would be the right move considering all the holes we still have...
And we've confirmed via our sources in Chitown that the Redskins have called the Bears about a trade that would enable the 'Skins to move from No. 9 to No. 4. Such a deal would not occur until draft day, and the trigger would not be pulled, we're told, unless Edwards is still on the board.
A possible trade with the Bears doesn't rule out a trade with the Niners, Fins, or Browns (who hold the 1, 2, and 3 picks, respectively), but the Bears will be more likely to accept only the No. 9 and No. 25 picks in exchange for the No. 4 overall selection. Our guess is that the Niners, Fins, and Browns each would want more than that at this point.

I'm in this camp as well... unless someone significant falls to #9 I think we should definitely look into this.

God bless our troops and Joe Gibbs.
