The logic behind the trade

Post by the redskins quads »

To all of you Redskins youth....check out our first round pick of the 80´s .... What´s that???? aside from Monk and Green we basicly didn´t have a first round choice????

Well yes we almost always traded our first pick....Beathard and Gibbs and if you go back, Allen and Pardee did the same.

But back to my post....I look at it from a couple of angles. First we are in a win now mode, we need players that can help NOW....so who cares about next year draft...
Second, next year we´ll have Cap problems, so having a first rounder will be costly....Specially if we trade or realese Lavar. Better use the pick this year sign it to a cap friendly contract and avoid the hassle next year.
Third, I dont think we are done whealing and dealing...I am sure Gibbs and the F.O. has several options to explore...

Dont be surprise if we trade down from 9 for more picks...or if we trade the 25th pick for Howard or Surtain or maybe...package various picks for both of them.....Like 25th for Howard and 9th for Surtain plus the dolphins 2th and 3th round....

Or if there are no good deals available, then just pick a CB and WR with or Campbell if they really think he´ll be a good one...or whatever...

My point is that I really like this trade, It give us leverage...it gives us ammunitions, we are now a big time player in this year draft.....

Did we gave up too much? I dont think so....maybe instead of the 4th round next year the 6th or 7th would have been better, but hey....I dont think it was ransom pay.

I belive and trust Joe Gibbs....I know this is going to be a brilliant move... mark my words....

Congrats on the Quads! I'm having my first child....oh any day now!

I was definetly upset about the trade last night, but I trust Gibbs. The salary cap situation does shed some light on the situation.

But the Jason Campbell stuff is just a front. There is no way that we are drafting Jason Campbell.

I am under the impression that the draft is this weekend..am I right? so yes most of the threads are going to be related to the draft and the trades we make.....

I just think it is easier to follow two or three conversations about the recent trade rather than 12 or 13. Why not post these remarks in an existing thread? There's nothing different here. Then we can all enjoy your fine remarks.

Fleetus, please stop moderating... that's why we have moderators... there's nothing wrong with this thread... like TRQ said, this is draft week and most threads are going to be on the draft and what we do in them.... and this has enough uniqueness in it to have it's own thread...

I didn't see anybody jumping on you in your recent "draft trade" thread: http://www.the-hogs.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12546

Thanks for understanding...

The difference is that BTP! is a moderator. My 2 cents
