Len Pasquarelli says Ramsey is out
Len Pasquarelli claims the trade for the 25th pick is for the QB from Auburn, Jason Campbell. He gives no sources(he usually makes them up) or quotes or anything to back it up, still worries the hell out of me

Redskins targeting Auburn's CampbellBy Len Pasquarelli
ESPN.com
Just three years after investing a first-round choice on quarterback Patrick Ramsey, the Washington Redskins are plotting to acquire the possible replacement for the man who currently holds the top spot on their depth chart.
Washington, already slated to pick ninth overall, added a second selection in the first round of the 2005 draft on Tuesday night, acquiring the 25th pick overall from the Denver Broncos. The prospect Washington brass is eyeing at No. 25? Auburn quarterback Jason Campbell.
In return for the Broncos' first-round choice, which Denver officials have been shopping for the past few days, the Redskins surrendered their third-round pick (76th overall) in this year's draft, along with first- and fourth-round selections in 2006. The haul is reflective of the regard in which they hold Campbell, who was 31-8 as a starter in college.
Even before their most substantive predraft review of the position late last week, Redskins coaches and scouts had regarded Campbell as on par with Alex Smith of Utah and California's Aaron Rodgers, generally regarded as the top two quarterback prospects. A lengthy film study of Campbell further strengthened Washington's resolve to move on the Auburn quarterback.
During his 46 appearances for the Tigers, Campbell completed 552 of 854 passes for 7,299 yards, with 45 touchdown passes and 24 interceptions. Despite playing under different offensive coordinators during each of his four seasons, Campbell completed more than 60 percent of his passes all four years. He completed 69.6 percent of his attempts while leading undefeated Auburn to a No. 2 ranking and a 16-13 win over Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl.
The Redskins now must guard against another team jumping ahead of them and grabbing Campbell, one of the draft's fastest rising prospects.
Certainly the flirtation with Campbell is not good news for Ramsey, the Redskins' top pick in the 2002 draft (32nd overall) and the man who finished the 2004 season as Washington's starter. The former Tulane star replaced Mark Brunell in the lineup for the second half of the season and started the final seven games.
Washington might entertain a trade for Ramsey, provided they get Campbell and feel he can play immediately for them. Brunell and Tim Hasselbeck, who on Monday signed his one-year restricted free agent qualifying offer of $656,000, remain on the roster.
For his career, the 26-year-old Ramsey has completed 465 of 836 passes for 5,370 yards, with 33 touchdown passes and 28 interceptions. He has started in 23 of 29 appearances.
Meanwhile, the Redskins say they aren't trading their No. 9 pick, which they'll likely use on a cornerback, but they're not ruling out any possibilities.
"Right now, we've had no discussions with anyone about trading away the ninth pick," team president and coach Joe Gibbs said. "Are we considering any options we are presented with? Yes. We'll consider anything, but no one has presented a compelling scenario."

I love Campbell but I think we would do just as well with the likes of Stefan Lefors in the later rounds.
I think we should acquire a QB anyways but not in the 1st round. I wouldn't put too much stock into this story.

If you believe that we traded a 1rst next year, 4 days before this years draft... on a QB that might not even be there.... you're just silly...
There's more than one guy we're targeting there... and it's going to probably be out one of our need positions (WR, CB, DE)... Not saying they're not thinking about getting rid of Ramsey.... if they were and they wanted to make sure they get Campbell to fill his spot... they're NOT going to do it 4 days before the draft.....

I was just about to say the same thing. Fat Lenny needs to use his noggin. If the Skins really wanted to do this...they would do it immediately after the 25th pick has passed and the supposed QB they love so much was still available. Then and only then. Either Fat Lenny is getting some misinformation from the Skins or he's just making crap up. I doubt he's making stuff up, 'cause he's a good reporter..he really is..even if we all hate him. But, clearly, Vinny is pulling something on him and Fat Lenny is taking the bait and running with it.

One other thing...fat lenny says that we graded Campbell on par with Rogers and Smith. Does anyone else find this eerily similar to when we drafted Ramsey? The 2 hot QB's that year were Carr and Harrington...and Ramsey was the "underrated" but equal to the others to many.

Presumably, any action taken to "replace" Ramsey is going to be an action designed to bring in a starter, as Ramsey is currently penciled in as the starter for '06 (unless he is dethroned in camp / preseason, which simply won't happen).
Brunel will ride the pine until he retires. Sounds like a pretty good life, if you ask me (I'd take it).

Why would the Redskins divulge that they are interested in this player or any other player? This makes no sense. They would be nuts to do this (divulge their intentions). Hopefully this is a smoke-screen for their true ambitions, else they've just let on and have hurt their chances of landing this particular player.
Without adding to the already huge outpouring of grief in the particular thread concerning the trade of picks with the Broncos, I'll just conclude by writing that yes, I also think the trade sucks....sucks bad. We can only hope that they have some sort of greater master plan.

I think your on to something.
I have heard the Browns are interested in Jason Campbell and they want him in the early 2nd round. Maybe this will just get their attention and we can trade #25 for more picks...

This is complete and utter crap. Ramsey is going nowhere. If this has been leaked by the skins, which I highly doubt, since fat lenny is the one reporting it, it's just to drum up draft business. I'm more of the opinion that fat len simply made up another story out of thin air, and of course it involved the skins since he hates us.
I personally don't really like giving up all the picks, but I'll reserve judgement until we see who we end up getting. There are lots of great players available at 25, but how are we going to pay two first rounders?

To save us all valuable time, I propose we institute a rule whereby any version of Len, Lenny, Fat Lenny, Pasquarelli, Pass the Jelly, Lenny P., Lenny Meatball etc. be treated like profanity where the website automatically strikes them from the text. Can we get this done, so his regular stream of misinformation can be simply ignored by everyone on this forum? PLEASE???????
Build through the draft!
