Sam Mills passes on

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Sam Mills passes on

Just figured I'd be the one to post it even here...this guy was actually one of my mentors and played a part in me going to the school I'm at now. Hands down greatest in the history of little Division III Montclair State.

Rest in Peace "Slammin'" Sam Mills.

He fought hard to beat cancer, but unfortunately lost. Best wishes for his family and loved ones during this difficult time.

I saw this on the NFL Network and I began to tear up a little bit. The man is too young to die.

I had the pleasure to meet him before the Redskins-Panthers game in 2001. All I had to do was say "Mr. Mills, Mr. Mills! Can I have your autograph?" and he walked over to the sideline and signed my program for me, even though I was wearing a Redskins jersey and a hat. I asked him why he wasn't a member of the Saints coaching staff and he said something along the lines of "they didn't need me." I also told him I had a picture I drew of him but I forgot to bring it. He said to mail it to the Panthers main office and he would sign it. I mailed it but never got it back.

It didn't matter too much but I was still glad to meet such a nice and classy individual. I'm sad to see him go. Rest In Peace Sam.

I distinctly recall that intercepted shovel pass against the Jets.
A great player, and those in the know say, a great man.
Intestinal cancer is no way to go, but he fought the good fight.
RIP, Sam Mills.

Very sad news. I watched him this season and you always hope for the best - he seemed to be putting up such a good fight.

45 - my age. Too young is right Jake.

One of my favourite under sized, big play, big heart guys.
My prayers go out to his family and friends.
