Skins Breaking Apart!!!!

Is it just me or are the Redskins breaking apart? LColes, FSmoot, APierce all left the ship. Now, questions are coming up with SMoss, STaylor, and now LArrington????
What the hell is going on?? Is our team breaking up?? Looks like all of our playmakers are getting very greedy. They all want a huge bite of Snyder's wallet, and we're not willing to do that anymore. (Which is the right way to go)
JGibbs wants to create a team with REAL redskins. Well...what are the Redskins then? A bunch of no names who work really hard? A bunch of hard workers who suffer every season because they do not have playmakers? Every team needs playmakers in this league to have any chance of winning. It seems like all of our great playmakers are here in Washington for the money, not for the game.
They all take a vacation, come to Washington, and leave with their suitcases full of green. If this is the trend, what who are the Redskins then? A franchise who has so much money that it actually DAMAGES their team????

I'm having a nervous breakdown. It seems like our team is breaking up because of greed. They don't want to build on this organization! They just want the dollars and then get out of here.
I now have a great deal of respect for players like CSamuels, JJansen, JThrash who shut up and just play the game. They play to win.
I wouldn't be suprised if Moss, Taylor, Arrington, and EVEN Portis leave in the near future.
Yes, the sky is definitely falling down. Hopefully Gibbs is strong enough to control all of these guys.

This is a offseason from hell. Yes, we thought we were stabilizing and getting a core group of guys. But it seems like the team cannot succeed with players of higher calibers. AND the ones we need only want money, not to win.

I know it might seem like all is lost right now, because normally at this time of the year we are way ahead of everyone and making our final push to get that Offseason Championship trophy. Winning the offseason means nothing. Winning the Regular season means everything. Something we haven't been able to do for.....5 years?

And for all the people that left our team, my door was wide open (Smoot, Pierce, Coles). We can do without them, its not the end of the world. Im really confident about our team.

Joe is getting things organized, it's a big fix but it is getting there. We are a better team with only a few concerns and a lot of potential. We do not need star players or playmakers, we need people who want to be better team players and who want to be the best that they can be.

Patience people, it's still months to go. Joe is getting this team back to the top.

Breaking apart? Not at all. What's happening right now is exactly what Joe told you would happen. He's weeding out the people who don't want to be Redskins. He's creating the core. He's teaching these guys how to be real football players and how to win.

Nobody is too good to lose. If they think they are, there's a huge chance they will end up gone.

As stated many many times, Smoot was above average, but replaceable. Pierce looks to me like a good player, but also a system player and Moss can sit if he feels like it. Lavar is a monster of raw talent who has the POTENTIAL to be an all time great, but is nowhere near it yet. If he continues this type of behavior, he'll never reach it either.

The team will be fine no matter who leaves or comes. Joe is at the helm and he knows who to get and how to win.

Rabach and Patten were HUGE signings IMO, and I think that offsets losing Smoot and Pierce by a longshot.

If Lavar had pulled this type of crap before he signed his contract and Gibbs was already the coach, I bet we woulda traded him. I really hope he figures that out and changes his ways. He's got a chance to be really special and I hope it's here where he did all the grunt work...

I wouldn't quite go that far. Rabach is a solid starter and Patten is a serviceable #2 receiver. Smoot was an above average corner who did everything asked of him, played hurt, and was one of our most valuable players. Pierce, while probably a system player, was the anchor of our defense last year and a guy who had great football intelligence. Not to mention the fact that he led the team in tackles and was 16th among all NFL players in tackles. It's very naive to assume that Smoot and Pierce players wont be missed and that they can easily be replaced.

I disagree. Rabach is a huge upgrade over Raymer. IMO Patten is better than any receiver we had on the team last year including an injured Coles.

Smoot was an above average player, but he was oft injured which probably affected his play, and that's probably why he got burned a little too often. I liked Smoot, don't get me wrong, but I think he's replaceable "enough" with one of the guys already on the team.

Pierce is a solid player. Mainly because of his intelligence. He's not the fastest guy, he's a bit small for mike LB, and his pass coverage is average at best. He has good anticipation though because of his intelligence so he's a great run stopper. I think the system helped him quite a bit and I think he'll have a significantly less stellar season and career with the Giants than he showed here in his one starting year.

If Barrow makes it back healthy, I see that as an upgrade over pierce. If Lemar starts, I see that as a small downgrade.

Basically it comes down to the fact that I think the upgrade was much higher on offense than the downgrade on defense will be. We needed the offense far more than the defense as well, so the offseason was extremely successful IMO. We did it without spending much too, which is a huge plus. Especially considering the cap hit we have right now.

Having said that, the perfect pick for us in the first round is Merriman. He'll be able to play DE and MLB. Probably more DE for awhile though. The only bad thing about Merriman is his wonderlic. It was pretty low, and that's bad news for MLB prospects...

I'm really starting to like Mike Williams too, so if he's still there....

Gibbs has the team going in a great direction in my view, and the only way I'd be happier is if we had signed Courtney.

A little bit of soap opera drama is essential for players and particularly the media such as The Washington Post at a time when there is a drought of football news short of the Draft.

Sure, it was a mistake by Lavar. He took a step back in the book of coaches and most fans alike. But everybody loved the attention and the drama. Days of Our Lives and All My Children move out! I agree 100%. I still think there are a lot of people who really don't understand what Gibbs is talking about when he talks about "core Redskins". He is NOT talking about the "Stars" from the last several years on those pathetic Redskins teams. He is talking precisely of the blue collar guys like Rabach and Patten hopefully will be. I think James Thrash is the closest thing to a "core Redskin" on the team. Not flashy, not loud, team player, lots of heart, 110% every play, team oriented, etc. etc.

What I think we are seeing right now is the final chapters of the previous disasterous era playing out. The resulting shake out will be healthy, yet painful.
