Ramsey a tough guy?...

Post by dallasisdead2004 »

I know some of you did not really agree with or care about Ramsey making it through Howie's tough guy tourney, but to those that did...I was puttin up more votes for him at around 1:00 am last night; 2 hours before it officially ended. Ramsey had a 57 - 43 % lead over Lewis but they won't tell us who won until 1:30 tommorow. We'll just have to wait and see...

Supposedly, Ramsey and Lewis flip-flopped their 57-43 scores in a matter of a minute to give Lewid the victory. This tournament was apparently rigged. So you will probably see lewis win it tommorow even though he didnt really win!

Well, McNair won it so the polls were pointless.

I guess one gets extra points for killing people. Oh well, Howie and Lewis can have their lovefest. You had to figure that it would be tought for Howie to give a QB the nod over a defensive player. Besides, you have to figure that Ramsey would rather have an MVP or better yet a Super Bowl than a Howie Long award.

poll

 I can't believe Ray Lewis won that poll. Ramsey was up 57% to 43% when I last voted around midnight. There is no way Lewis could have come back from behind in the last three hours from that deficit. That's bull$h!t!!!!!!

Just so you know I give a hoot, here's a copy of the email I sent to the set of FOX NFL Sunday.
From: Todd and Wanda Westerfield
To: howie@foxsports.com
Cc: Todd and Wanda Westerfield

Subject: Howie Long's Tough Guy Tourney "Viewer's Choice" vote.

Wow, Mr. Long. At the end of the first round, Fox accused Redskin fans of cheating on the "Viewer's Choice" Vote. In the Final Round, Ramsey was leading the poll 57% to Lewis' 43% with a minute to go. Suddenly, the graphic flip-flops. Now, Lewis has 57%, Ramsey 43%. Lewis wins. I assume you meant for this to be a fair contest. It was not. The "Viewer's Choice" was not accurately represented. It was fixed.
Nice job, guys. Ramsey gets another slap in the face. Real nice. How about a kid that took a beating for his team and kept coming back for more ? What's the toughest thing Ray Lewis has done ? Oh, yeah. He beat a murder conviction.
Pro Football does nothing for the stand-up character guys. They put the LT's and the Ray Lewis types on pedestals, while slapping down the Ramsey's and the Art Monks. Why do so many wonder aloud about the poor character of the better players ?
Clearly, it's the "Bad Boy" types that get all the press. If T.O. doesn't pull out that Sharpie, does he get less press than Randy Moss, who assaulted a crossing guard ? Maybe that's why Joe Horn, who has always been very consistent, did what he did. He sees where the camera goes. It doesn't go to the quiet guy who just does his job as well or better than the next guy. Nope. It goes to the loudest, flashiest and the best chest-thumping "Me First !" show-off.
Again, thanks for a great job in feeding the frenzy. I know Lewis didn't win the overall contest, but the fact that somebody at Fox had to switch the poll numbers to make the man a winner makes him the biggest loser of all. Unfortunately for Patrick Ramsey, moral victories don't help in the real world.

Hey TC

You might get a better reaction if you had sent the email to some sort of investigative program that is shown on a rival station to Fox

In australia the tv stations love stories like this that show up a much ballyhoo-ed promotion that has been of "dubious" honesty

Hey TC, my wife sent a very similar email at around the same time. Fox has been bad-mouthing the skins all year, so it wouldn't be right if a skin won this award.

In the end, Steve McNair actually won the designation as Howie Long's Tough Guy (in a bit that appeared to have been filmed during the regular season or the playoffs when the team was actually still around). Ray Lewis got a fleeting mention as the "Viewer's Choice" and Patrick Ramsey got . . . not a mention. We know he was the real Viewer's Choice.

Whatever!
