worst pick ever

Post by Cooley47 »

I hope this isn't already a topic and I look stupid, but any thoughts...........

I think it's David Carr, and he hasn't proved me otherwise.......until he proves to be as neccessary to his team as Peppers than I will take it back

Please no one say Leaf........too obvious
I miss you 21.

God I wish we had a second round pick.

:hmm:

David Carr? With all the problems we've had at QB, how can you discount his impact with the Texans...starting as a rookie and showing the guts of a Ramsey? I would argue that Peppers would not have had nearly the impact that Carr has had on the Texans and the city of Houston.

The biggest bust pick ever was Tony Mandarich, especially considering the quality of the HOFers drafted right after him.

I don't know if I'd consider that the "worst draft pick" though because almost every other team would have selected him #2 overall given the hype he was getting.

The worst pick ever in my opinion ws Dallas selecting Tony Dixon in the 2nd round. How bad was drafting Alabama's backup safety? He was out with friends because even he and his agent didn't expect to be drafted on the first day let alone the second round.

An honorable mention goes out to Dallas' first rounder spent on Rod Hill, prompting the immortal headline "Who in the Rod Hill is Rod Hill?"
This space reserved for BTP......If he ever wins it.

My favorite QB bust is Akili Smith at #3 in 1999. Held out and missed camp, blew up for the Bungles; gets cut. Signed by the packers to back up Brett Farve. Didn't make the team. That was 2003. He will try to play in NFL Europe this year. Maybe he resurrects his career ala Kitna, Warner, Bulger. Who knows.

Favorite Raven bust - Travis taylor at #10. (Maybe Boller. I saw a few positives last year so I'm going to wait)

Favorite Iggles bust - Moving up in the draft to get Mike Mamula at #7?? Also Freddy Mitchell, but he had some good playoff games. People can look back to his 4th and 26 as well.

Least favorite Skins busts - Heath Schuler, Michael Westbrook, Desmond Howard.

Joey Harrington over David Carr. But it doesn't suprise me Casserly is a idiot. He only had one good trade the Ricky Williams and any one would have done it.

Add Jon Harris to that list as well.

Heath Schuler...although Courtney Brown comes in a close second....and rounding out the super losers is Kyle Brady.

Carr blows. The only good things people ever have to say about him is that he was tough enough to get sacked 1,000 times his rookie season or that he's a fixture in the community.

But he wasnt even the biggest bust QB in his class. Joey Harrington is even worse.

The worst pick of all time is Leaf but since he's off limits I'll go with Aundray Bruce.

David Carr is the worst draft pick ever?

ROTFALMAO

He's a starting QB isn't he? That alone makes him not even remotely close... I mean come on, we're talking about the biggest busts of all time aren't we?

A lot of the good ones are already mentioned... Emtman, Shuler, Mandarich, Bruce... Mandarich sticks out to me because barry Sanders, Deion Sanders and Derrick thomas were all available.

I can think of a couple more too... like how can a Redskin board leave out Andre Johnson?

How about Tom Cousineau... first overall in '79... had a nice CFL career.

Mike Junkin - I only remember this because Cleveland traded away LB Chip Banks to get him when it was considered like TWO rounds too early... and Cleveland traded picks and banks to MOVE UP to do it.

Andre Wadsworth
Andre Johnson
Rick Mirer
Rashaam Salaam
Lawrence Phillips
Ryan Leaf
Keith mccants

And then there's the Bengals:
Akili Smith
Kijana Carter
David Klingler
Jack Thompson
David Verser
Some might even put Dan Wilkinson in there.

Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.

How can you say Andre Johnson, he is a beast. Much better than Charles Rogers

I can say Andre Johnson because I'm talking about the offensive tackle that the Redskins selected in the first round of the 96 draft.

In my memory, Ray McDonald was as bad (if not worse) a first round selection as Heath Schuler, Desmond Howard or Andre Johnson were. Look it up!

Redskins first round draft choice in 1967, 13th overall. Career stats: 52 rushes, 223 yards.

Do others here think that Desmond Howard was a bust?

As a WR, he didn't do much ... but as a KR, he won the Super Bowl MVP with the Packers. Can someone be a SB MVP and also a draft bust?

You don't give up two #1s to trade up for a KR.
