Barrow
Ok listen, you cant cut Michael Barrow short. He is 34 and has an Injury but two years ago he had the best season of his career with 177 tackles. The great Arrington in his best season had a 118 and he had an injury last season so what relase him too? No because he will heal and return on the field just like Barrow will. He holds two franchise records for tackles with the G-Men and the Carolina Panthers. This is one player you cant just cut away from an injury he is a veteran but his best year was the last one when he steped on the field so now that he is injured you want to cut him short? Come on now? That is the ultimate linebacking core. Arrington and Washington on the outside with incredible speed and a SURE tackler "Barrow" in the middle. The Redskins have problems every year with missing tackles on a screen or a long run. He will DEFINITELY help those plays come to an end

But, isn't Arrington a LITTLE younger than Barrow? Isn't Barrow's injury life long? Isn't Barrow going to be more injury prone than Arrington?
Think about it. I agree with him being a "beast," but that's only when he's healthy. And I doubt that he'll be able to stay healthy throughout the season.

The comparison of tackles between a Middle Linebacker and an Outside Linebacker is flawed from the beginning. It's like saying a closer has less strikeouts than a starting pitcher then using that as evidence one is better than the other... one has way more opportunities than the other, it doesn't mean one is better.
Barrow has lost a step with his age and now we add an injury on top of all of that. What's more is that Barrow is pretty small for a MLB and he has always gotten by on technique and smart play rather than skill or physical tools...
Still, he's breaking down, and he may not have the ability to play at an elite level anymore.
I hope I'm wrong, but Barrow seems used up and we probably need to find a replacement.
I wonder if Merriman or Johnson could be that player to make the move to MLB...

Yeah there is a 7 year difference between Lavar and Barrow... Barrow should be in the prime of his career, while lavar is a beast and not in there yet. Barrows injury is career threatning while lavars is just a couple of months... I think Lavar overall is a better phyiscal player, and therefor the injury did not impact him such as it did with Barrow who is getting old.

The whole thing is that this was Barrows first season he was out with major injuries..His numbers are there for you to see. He is way better than lamar marshall and when healthy which he is recovering well according to redskins sources he is better than most middle linebackers in the leauge. I guess I think why he would seriously help us is because of his tackling ability. He is a sure tackler and I cant think how many times on 3 and 4 they run the ball and we have them stopped but dont rap up or tackle properly and there drive continues

Correct! I am not sure what prompted this but IMO we will see both Marshall and Barrow given the opportunity to be the middle LB this spring and summer. It seems that unless they do not look like they will be as good (or better than we need!) OR someone comes available - one of them will be the MLB.
We look pretty good at LB! We have some other concerns but these guys complement each other and are not competing for a spot with Lavar or any of the others.
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I just want to point out that we don't have a tackling issue any longer. Sure tackling was a big reason we were so good last season. I credit that to the new additions, but mostly to Williams and the rest of the coaching staff. I'm on Barrows side as well. I'm staying positive on him and really looking forward to seeing Arrington, Barrow and Washington out there wreaking havoc!!!

Death to the EGO! RIP 21
I've stated before in previous posts that I think we should keep Barrow and my opinion still hasn't change. The guy will always be a BEAST!!

one of the reasons we went so hard after barrow was because he's had such a healthy career and wasn't injury prone. so this is a new thing.
the other is that he's really smart and would be great QBing the defense. i'm excited to see what he'd do with a year under his belt of being on the sideline soaking up the system. he's like an assistant coach playing in the game for us!
i'm definitely for keeping barrow. we're paying him good money.

Please people. Let's not cast off a player of his caliber, jsut because he was injured last year.
Obviously Gregg Williams thought he was good enough not to push for matching Pierce's offer. Cutting a proven player at a position of need would be just plain foolish.

Your'e right about that welch. Players who are here at this time will get an opportunity before we look for anybody else. But it is surprising that some seem to want to look elsewhere when we already have 2 players who could both be very good for us in Barrow and Marshall.
Gibbs and Greg did fairly well with what they had last year and I see this team in the playoffs with a similar improvement this year.
