well actually its called Blitz The League.

Basically its a game based off of ESPN's Playmakers. It consists of a fake league and fake players but it is about all the naughty stuff.

I never watched Playmakers and I'm not going get this game, but if my mom lets me I might rent it because I'd like to see what happens behind the scenes. Even if it is a bit over the top.

I dont' think I'd pay anymore than $20 for this game. I've saved my Espn2k5 just incase...

Supposedly Madden along with this next generation of games are supposed to go up to $60-$70 a game due to rising development costs. Madden wasn't worth $50 and surely won't be worth $60-$70.

Ill have to wait to pass judgement on this game. I hope the NFL pays dearly for this agreement they've made, I want a choice!

It seems that most sports games are making these agreements now. First the NFL and EA Sports agreed for Madden's rights, and I think MLB and ESPN have made the same agreement for baseball games. It just sucks, especially because ESPN has pushed EA Sports to compete and lower their prices.

This game looks like a waste of time, in my opinion. When I play a football game, my interest is in whether or not I should be running off-tackle or having a receiver run a quick hitch. Strategy, realistic gameplay, and the NFL eperience are exactly what I'm looking for.

Instead, this game lets you worry about whether or not the STD's that your quarterback has picked up from his weekend partying is going to affect his play in the rest of the season. Or whether or not your RB gets convicted of killing his wife (and, while this may be a reality for Dallas or Baltimore, most teams in the NFL never have to deal with this stuff). They talk about interviewing a lot of players to understand what the NFL is like behind the scenes. . .but in the end they've hired one main writier from ESPN's Playmakers series--not quite the most accurate picture of the NFL that we've seen. There are many flaws that I see in the game already.

For instance, the developer talks about how Theisman-like injuries will be part of the game. As far as I know, Theisman's leg break ranks in the top 5 NFL injuries of all time. . .it's not like that stuff happens every day. But games like this tend to overemphasize the occurence, importance, and impact of huge injuries in a game to try and make it exciting. Instead, in my opinion, it makes it worthless.

Yeah, I'd be predisposed to hate this game simply because they probably don't focus on making it a good football simulation. Call me a purist or whatever, but I always cringe when I hear people call the NFL the "No-Fun League," simply because they don't understand what the sport is all about, anyway.

That game looks like a blast, what are you guys talking about!

Playmakers was a ridiculous farce, so are a lot of great TV Shows and movies, that's what makes them fun. What's wrong with having a fantasy game with huge hits, backbreaking injuries and arrests of your favorite players? What if you can hire lawyers for your players to get them off?! That sounds like a lot of fun, it's not football it's just entertainment.

One man's fun is another man's waste of time. . .?

I gave Playmakers a few viewings but wasn't terribly impressed (and I wasn't looking for a good football show, either. . .it just didn't do anything for me).

I've got no problems with them making a game like that. . .but in the article they did talk about how they are going to be competing with Madden. I'm just saying, if they are marketing it as a game that can compete with Madden, I'm calling it a waste of my time. If they market it as something that can compete with GTA or something else like that, then we might be talking

I couldn't have said it better. Of the few episodes of Playmakers that I watched, it seemed like anything that could go wrong did - drug addictions, getting random women pregnant, shooting up a night club. I would never buy this game, I'm looking for realistic gameplay with pretty good graphics.
