I know it's almost 2 years away, but I think Snyder is gambling on the new CBA to increase the salary cap by more than the annual allotment. This would solve some of our salary cap mess we might have in a few years. Here is a quote from bengals.com
"The expansion of revenues would clearly alarm the Bengals as a small-market team because what they sell doesn’t have the same price as it does in such markets as Dallas, New York and New England, yet they would be forced to spend the same amount in salary cap, which could be driven up by as much as $10 million."
$10 million is a large increase. What do you guys think will happen?

I hope that the Cap does increase that much for the Skins sake...
But in 2007, there possibly could be NO cap - Holy cow - Snyder would go hog wild! They would have a 500 million dollar pay roll! Just give guys 1 year deals for millions each. I bet he is licking his chops already.

Just beat Dallas - they are A-H****
If we can somehow manage to get through 2006 we will be ok cap wise. There were a few experts that came up with this idea that synder was banking on the cap increase a year or two ago, when we signed all our free agents to back loaded deals. I thought it was actually a pretty smart move, but whether dan intentionally bet on the cap increasing is uncertain. Either way it would help us the most because aren't we the most profitable nfl team out there?

You are correct sir.

Danny did not get to be the success in business that he is by "gambling" on anything. Despite the doomsayers we have managed to handle the cap although there have been some "glitches" along the way. BUT we have not had to totally rebuild yet and that has been predicted by most since DS started his spending spree. There are some downsides to unlimited spending that you might not like.

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

If there is no cap in '07 could teams clear out their salary problems? If that is the case there will be a lot of cuts around the league. A lot of teams would get cap healthy real fast. You may see teams sign players to multi year contracts with all the big money given the first year in salary not a signing bonus.

I realize that you didn't write this piece, but Cincinatti can't really be considered a "small market" team. Their owner may be a cheapskate who doesn't properly realize all potential revenue, but that is a huge difference.
An uncapped year will not hurt teams in the smaller markets, but teams with ownership that rely upon football revenues for their lifestyle.
The new breed of ultra-rich outside income owners would be able to finacially destroy the Browns, Rooneys and even Al Davis etc.
Green Bay's unique ownership situation would be especially hurt by a single uncapped year. They'd be exluded from signing a single free agent or even hoping to resign their own.

I really really hope they can increase the cap. Because first of all the players are earning millions more than the players earned 10 years ago... Each player wants more money now... The cap should increase, just like the prices for the players keeps increasing.. And if it doesnt then lets just have a SB win before 2007.
