We all know of Rod Gardner's "potential" and how he has all the tools a WR needs except hands . But what if he works this offseason and finally shows us what he can do and we line him up against Santana Moss?
I mean IMO Gardner plays a lot like Westbrook except he's not a bad character player. I think we should give him another shot and let him play the last of his rookie contract. I'd rather get nothing and keep Gardner than get a paltry 3rd or 4th rounder and send Rod to a team that he'll excell on.

you have not been paying attention - he does not like playing here and we are going to move him (or lose him) - he will not be here in May!

Fotunately for us you will not be making this decision and we will get something - even if that is making sure he never plays for us again!
This guy is not a good player or worth anything to us except if we get lucky enough to find someone who thinks they can make him catch the ball for them - well, maybe 1 out of 2!
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
Things certainly have quieted down on the Gardner trade talks since the Seahawks signed Joe Jurevicius (sp?), who I thought would have been a good pick-up here. What's the latest?
I agree! - It's only a matter of time - someone will want to take a chance. The market will get very anxious either just before or on D day!
I know they wont just let him go but this is part of the game within the game and someone is going to blink! Hopefully sooner but he will be in another jersey soon!

The only way rod will stay a skin is if no other team in the league wants him and I can see why someone would rather keep there draft pick.I hope there is someone dumb enough to do it.

Even if that happens, we'll cut him for the cap room
Romans 1:11 "For I wish that I myself were cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers..." Paul
The story is that Gibbs told the team that anybody who didn't want to be a Redskin next year, should come and see him (at the end of last season). Two people came to see Gibbs -- Coles and Gardner.
He will NOT be a Redskin next year. We'd take a 7th round pick in 2010 if it came down to it.
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.
Rod Gardner has some greazy hands. I don't see how hard it is to catch a football. Maybe he has a bad name from all the dropped balls, so no other team wants him.
If we keep him, he's going to have to step it up and start catching his throws. Maybe he should wear some good gloves or something.
One thing I would miss if he was gone, are the trick plays, when he throws the ball. That was always entertaining.
But, for real, we need another reciever to run through the middle and take hits, someone like Coles. Thrash is one, but he's doing special teams too and what if he gets injured.. We need someone to back him up....

Yup, and in the articles where Coles bashed the 'Skins they described how the two of them would sit and sulk and wonder when they could get out of the oppressive Gibbs regime.
I also truly believe that more than anyone Rod Gardner is a distraction and a cancer. There were two negative incidents that occured last year off the field and both involved him. He seems far more concerned about partying than learning how to catch. His big birthday bash in the middle of the season resulted in Sean Taylor getting arrested (it's really Taylor's fault but with Rod's reputation as a partier I feel like he can definately be a bad influence on younger players) and then he went clubbing and got his car stolen. I don't mind a little partying at all, I mean I party a lot, but when you see what he puts on the field it really makes you wonder.
Bottom line is I can't wait until we get rid of this bum! He is the only Redskin that I dislike at all and I cannot wait until we get rid of him. Who cares if he goes to another team and is successful, he was a bust here! If we can trade him for a 3rd round pick it will be the best thing we have done this offseason (well the Rabach signing was pretty good too).

i totally agree with Boss. He doesnt wanna be here weel take the worst for him
Of course you know how players seem to miraculously step up in contract years right? Maybe we should keep him and force him to play. I bet he'll have a monster year so he can get that big contract he wants (somewhere else)

Can you give me an article saying all that and one not just saying Coles talked to Gibbs?

Coles and Gibbs both state that they talked at the end of the season, so if there is a story out that says they didn't talk it wouldn't be worth the time it takes to read it.
Any way you look at it 50-50 is out of here, Gibbs told him he should seek a trade (meaning if you want to work next year go find a job) because it's cheaper to cut him than to pay him and let him drop half the passes thrown his way. If we can't get that 7th roumder in 2010 then we can't get it. But Mr. Gardner is good as gone.

I think Smithian was saying that only Coles went to Gibbs at the end of the season. Coles later said he and Rod talked about how unhappy they were in Gibbs' system, but Rod never expressed his disatisfaction to Gibbs. Basically he wasn't man enough to talk to Gibbs directly. That's a good enough reason to get rid of him right there.
