Chump at WR

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Chump at WR

Post by hatsOFF2gibbs »

THE NEWS

Broncos' cornerback Champ Bailey has repeatedly expressed his desire to play on both sides of the ball, and it appears that his head coach is going to take him up on the offer. "That will be a big part of what Champ does in the offseason," Broncos' head coach Mike Shanahan is quoted as saying in Sunday's Denver Post. "We're going to see what he can do…to work some as a receiver. That speed of his makes it really appealing." Bailey had one reception for 11 yards last year, and recorded three previous receptions in his five-year career.

OUR VIEW

Don't go racing out to add Champ to your offensive fantasy roster based on this news, as he will still spend the overwhelming majority of his time on defense. He might take a few snaps as a wideout, but the Broncos will likely conserve most of his energy for defense.

Watch him play both ways and tear his ACL on offense. Don't wish bad things on the guy...but I wouldn't cry, either.

I was really excited at first when they wanted him to play on offense for us. As I recall, he had good speed and cuts, but fumbled the ball more than once on various reverse / short passing plays; and ultimately it seemed better that he just focused on playing some defensive ball. Then again, if I had his speed / skills, I'd be itching to play on offense, too.

Hopefully they'll put him on O whenever we play them next. . .

Gee..I'm sure none of the opposing defenses would love to get a wicked hit on a Big named no heart Chump...Im sure Sean Taylor would be broken hearted in having to de-cleat Bailey..

Maybe he can 'blanket' himself. :hmm:

We've seen Champ play offense... it's really quite a horrorshow.
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.
