I know this: If we get him, we're getting a very smart guy who sees the writing on the wall.
If he follows the money, and becomes somebody's # 1 DE, he's blind to the reality of his physical situation.

Hey there Natale...I remember that your post, started this whole thing....so you get the credit for breaking this story before it even came up...but quick question....are you still that interested in Courtney?
I must admit I am not anywhere near as excited about Brown. For some reason I though Brown would come to the Redskins with excited gratitude. Being able to reunite with LaVar and play for Gibbs and Williams. When we signed his cousin I believed that was just the icing on the cake in him coming here. I figured he just come here like Rabach did; not checking out any other teams b/c he knows the Redskins are the best fit.
I just hope it get dones with quick. I think he will be effective for the Redskins and a continual bust anywhere else.

I think a bunch of us thought the same think, but then he left and went to Denver then down here and to Seattle. I'm sure we were not the high bid.
However I believe Brown is smart enough to know he would fit better here than anyother place at this point in his career.
The Seahawks should be out of the running...(they signed WR Joe Jurevicius and CB Kelly Herndon todsy that should change their Cap situation)
The Jags and Denver both need a full time DE (Brown doesn't know if he can go full speed fulltime)
The Jags might have thrown a big number at him (but he might have to play both DE spots because they have NONE)
I don't know what's up with Denver, but we may still have a shot since he hasn't picked a team

I've looked around today, no word on a decision or when he'll make it.
This is what I think --- we didn't offer as much money as someone else (e.g., Jags). Or, we offered money based on games played, and another team offered up more money that isn't tied to his ability to stay on the field. You just have to figure he wants to come here...here's why:
1) Two friends and ex-teammates at PS, LeVar & Nobel are on Skins;
2) We recently signed his cousin to a contract;
3) He's a religious guy and so is Joe Gibbs;
4) Greg Wms is our defensive coach;
5) His agent is also Greg Wms agent; and maybe the biggest reason....
6) Joe Gibbs, a HOF coach flew to Cleveland to visit him (the HOF coach spent time and money to break bread with him and his wife) when the Browns cut him.
Danny -- up the offer just a tad and the deal will be done...

He is probably going to go to the team where he can flourish, rather than the best initial contract because if he goes somewhere and has 10 sacks, he can get a more lucrative deal through renegotiating or getting an extension...i think that is what he is mulling over
he has already seen the offers, it doesnt take this long to do math

only thing I could find ....
According to a source who spoke to Brown yesterday, the top overall pick in the 2000 draft spent several hours Wednesday night and yesterday grilling agent Marvin Demoff with detailed questions about his options. Demoff, who also represents Gregg Williams -- Washington's assistant head coach of defense -- didn't return a call yesterday. Each suitor gave Brown, who has missed 33 games in five seasons, an offer with incentives tied to his health.

Too late!

NOTES, QUOTES
—In another sign of how influential players can remain even when they skip town, former Redskins CB Champ Bailey gave a pitch against Washington to Brown. Bailey, now a member of the Broncos, wanted to see Brown sign with Denver but also was in a unique position to offer some insight on the dysfunctionality that has plagued Washington.
No word on exactly what Bailey said. But the superstar played in Washington from 1999 to 2003 and left with a very sour taste in his mouth, and there certainly was no love lost between him and owner Dan Snyder.
