Mommas, Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Play "Football

Post by REDEEMEDSKIN »

A warning to all the soccer moms (and padres):

GETTING YOUR KIDS INVOLVED IN SOCCER COULD BE HAZARDOUS TO YOUR HEALTH, NO MATTER HOW MANY ORANGE SLICES YOU EAT.

Think I've fallen off my rocker? Please read the following:

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil (AP) -- Three gunmen kidnapped the mother of Brazilian soccer star Rogerio, the fourth abduction of a player's mother in recent months, Brazilian media reported on Tuesday.

Police did not immediately confirm the kidnapping of Ines Fidelis Regis, 57, but the case was widely reported in the Brazilian press.

Regis was kidnapped on Monday at her home in Campinas, 60 miles northwest of Sao Paulo, the O Globo newspaper's Web site reported. The gunmen reportedly bound and gagged her daughter and left with Regis.

Rogerio plays for Portugal's Sporting Lisbon.

Campinas police are still searching for striker Luis Fabiano's mother, who was kidnapped in the city this month. The kidnappers reportedly have not contacted the family. Luis Fabiano plays for Portugal's FC Porto.

The wave of kidnappings began last December, when armed men seized the mother of Santos striker Robinho. She was released five weeks later, but it wasn't clear whether her family paid a ransom.

Last month, the mother of Sao Paulo striker Grafite was abducted near Sao Paulo. Police found her unharmed a day later.

It wasn't clear whether there was a connection between the kidnappings, but national team coach Carlos Alberto Parreira this month lamented that soccer players were an increasingly common target.

"I can only regret that the wave of violence has reached soccer," Parreira said, soon after Luis Fabiano's mother was kidnapped. "They used to spare soccer players."

Man Soccer sucks... My highschool football coach calls soccer the "S-WORD" your not aloud to say it. Any kid that joins football cant play soccer. And plus who would wanna go play a sport were they wear short shorts. Play a man sport with contact, not a sport that u if you touch the other person you get a yellow card. Jesus and they tell you to build muscles.

I don't know what was demeaning about that. I didn't go to an elementary school where kids played basketball. I got stuck playing soccer. Now Im years behind my brothers in basketball. I'm ashamed.

I think it just dawned on me what you were thinkin TC. No I wasn't trying to imply that, or make a sly joke. I'm talking about myself. I really can't dribble, and Im an average shooter.

Hey, are you coming to any of the camps? I wonder if we can all get together and toss the football around. You guys better bring some young blood, you'll need someone to cover me.

Cover you with a baby blanket, my friend.
I was playin' you on the "demeaning". Generalizations like that, they get me to thinking maybe evolution hasn't given us the key brain lobes we need to be using, is all. :)

When I got into an argument with several buddies about what sport was rougher among all contact sports, I argued for Competitive Judo (which I have the injuries to prove), others said football, and others mentioned wrestling and boxing.

The argument was settled when one of us said, there is no penalty for "unnecessary roughness" in Rugby. We all agreed it was the toughest sport to play (often for peanuts by the way). Period.

Washington53, if you happen to find yourself EVER in front of a team wearing ALL BLACK uniforms with shorts and they make faces at you, please run, fast, as far as you can and off of the field towards the safety of home.

I've got to come in to defend soccer. Yeah the most of the players are diving babies, but it is probably the biggest sport in the world. Those guys are definte athletes haveing to run around for 90+ minutes.
