Matt Jones?

Post by BurgundyandGoldfaith »

Everyone seems to feel that a big possesion reciever is a near necessity this offseason, due to matchup problems in opposing secondaries. Would it be possible to address the need with just the basics? Matt Jones is 6'6", 242 and runs a clean 4.4 dash. I personally feel that a possesion reciever does not necessarily need to be a top tier player but if he can catch and is fast enough to run stride for stride with DB's then the mere frame of someone 6'6" demands a mismatch or additional help in the secondary. I also feel a "go-to" possesion reciever either needs to be a speed freak of nature or you need more than one in order for DC's to not key in on them. If we can't get MWilliams, how about the fastest and tallest available in later rounds for the simple mismatch?

Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.

Jones is going to be drafted by the fourth round - what position is the question. TE? WR? QB? I think he could play QB in the NFL - but most likely a pass catching TE with TD potential on almost any play or formation.

No, just no. The man was a massive liability for us to pass before 2003...

Oh yeah, he fumbled more than Culpepper does in clutch situations.

I would rather take Vincent Jackson.

Jones will go in the second round. What I would love to see, however, is everyone being dumb enough to let him get picked up by the skins in the third, hopefully for the third pick we get for Gardner. I'm betting Jones can play either WR or TE at a high level-- the guy's huge, fast, incredibly athletic...almost on the order of a Vick, except a step slower and can't pass as well. Here's what I want to happen: Courtney Brown signs with us.
We draft either Williams, Edwards, Rolle, Rodgers,or PacMan (whoever is there at nine)
With our two thirds we take Jones and best remaining corner or WR Brackin or DT Canty from Virginia.
With the rest of our picks we try to pick up the TE and DT from Missouri and someone to challenge at left OT.
Incidently, we should get out from under the idea that Samuels, taken all in all with is big contract, is an asset. Of all the Redskins, he's the one I'd most like to see take a walk. :?

Welcome to the site, and hope you enjoy it. Might get a little rough early but we all learn.

You were lookin' hopeful early but I think as it got towards the end there.. well we shall see!
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
