Oh wait, we already have seen that: NOTHING!
Parcells has never stuck around to do anything this is the
first coaching engagement since the Giants that he's stayed
more then 2 seasons
so absurd arguement at trying to say he's done nothing with
out Bill Belichick as his assistant

I still say he knows what he's doing based on the fact he coached one of the least talented teams in the league to a 10-6 record and a #1 defensive ranking.
Quincy Carter and Troy Hambrick. 'Nuff said.

my point exactly- quitter-
Your right because he has left teams he's quit because of
idiot owners who don't know what free control to your HC
means
so who is to say that he couldn't build a winner with out BB?
he's getting a great opportunity with Dallas so we'll see

Right, and Jerry "I'm the GM" Jones is the perfect owner for Parcels, then?

Fact: He hasn't won without Belichick.
You keep trying to give Billy P credit for Billy B's success. We are just countering that.
All other questions, see BH's posts above.
I'd chime in, but I slipped off my soapbox and sprained my wrist.
Let me try typing with my rearend.
Oh that's working a lot better
even though it kind of looks like
the way TexasCowboy has been posting
in this stunted paragraph style. I keep looking
for words that rhyme...
Any way, there is no doubt that
Bill Parcells was, at one time, a fantastic
coach. He was gritty, tough and spontaneous.
He was also blessed with a great set of
underlings, who went on to bigger and
better things. I think that Coach Gibbs
had a better approach to his return to
the Big Show; he knew that his magic wouldn't
be what it was without his loyal staff, so
he brought almost all of them back with him.
Parcells did not. He believed what the media was
writing about him, and his pomposity shows.

Your right TC- I also have not heard anyone talk about LOYALTY- Where is his loyalty? Where the largest deal is? Gibbs was offered his job by Jones first and declined-everyone knows why! There is something to be said for Loyalty and if Bill P had gone back to the Giants or even stayed with the Pats I would have had more respect for him- his ego is the only thing he is loyal to.

Their is no loyalty it's a business if you
want loyalty get a pet..Parcells wants to
be in control you hired him to help your
team, you came to him not the other way
around.
so he deserves to have the control as a head coach and Jerry Jones has given him that
control. something he would not have done
if it were another head coach, Jerry would
still be calling the shots.
But since Jerry can't afford to lose he is
forced to give up the control and let BP
run the show his way

ike I said lets see what he does when he runs out of Parcells players to bail him out, then we will see how
good Mr. Belichick is
Honesty demands that I say:
- Belicheck was a great defensive coordinator
- Belicheck couldn't handle the Browns, or was not given time to grow into the job
- The Patrots have won three Super Bowls under Belicheck. That is breath-taking
- Parcells -- and BB -- helped to create a team of winners in NE, but that was the Drew Bledsoe, Curtis Martin team.
- BB has done all the rest. FIve years, as, I think, BossHog reminded everyone. That is two NFL lifetimes, today.
- And this thread originally was about some guy's crackpot letter to SI. The letter is no different than any of the blather that dribbles into "sports talk radio": Derek Jeter is a bum, fire Joe Torre because he hasn't won a World Series since 2000, lets trade five Yankee starters ("Bernie Williams and Jorge Posada are too old") for some weird selection of six or ten players from another team, why can't Brian Cashman "pull the trigger" on that trade of Giambi for the entire Red Sox starting lineup, etc etc. [sorry for the NY Yankees-orientation, but that's who I know about].
- Parcells won't leave unless and until management takes control from him. He left the Gianst -- bad move -- because he wanted to be the coach and GM, and George Young had different ideas. Jerry Jones is annoying, but he is not stupid. Jones won't interfere with Parcells. And, yes, Parcells is twice the coach that Jimmy Johnson was.
- Parcells is a good coach. Cowboy fans should be happy with that, and leave it. Ignore the comments that he is too tough for the delicate psyche of the modern NFL player. It's nonsense.
