Tim Hasselbeck visited an "undisclosed" team last
Can someone spare a dime for brother?
He watched as brother Matt Hasselbeck got a huge new deal from the Seahawks (including a $16 million signing bonus), but restricted free agent Tim Hasselbeck is also getting some interest. He was off for a visit with an undisclosed team this weekend. No, it wasn't the Patriots.
Hasselbeck received a low tender of $680,000 from the Redskins, which might help him get a backup job with another team, since there would be no compensation due. It is also in Hasselbeck's favor that he has played a bit, starting three games in 2003.
Hasselbeck lives in New York on the West Side with his wife, Elisabeth (Filarski), of "Survivor" fame and "The View." The couple is expecting their first child any day.
While last season was frustrating for the players and coaches in Washington, Hasselbeck has a lot of admiration for coach Joe Gibbs.
"No matter how bad things were, Gibbs won't let you give up," said Hasselbeck. "I think Joe is always looking for ways to improve the situation for players. He just brought in Bill Musgrave to be our quarterback coach, and even though Musgrave comes from a totally different coaching tree, Joe wants to bring in new ideas and new ways of doing things."

Hasselbeck had planned to make an unspecified trip in recent days — which the Boston Globe reported yesterday — but agent David Dunn said last night all visits have been postponed because Hasselbeck's wife, television personality Elisabeth, is about to give birth.

dude what are you talking about. He will never move up to a #1. He sucks. And if you guys think he did good in the preseason, thats because he went up against 3rd string CBs. With good QB coaching ramsey's cannon will be one of the top in the NFL. But not Tim, we dont even need him as a 3rd stringer

I wish he'd stay, but I'd understand if he got an offer he couldn't refuse. Especially if it meant being closer to his wife and soon-to-arrive child. Let's just hope he ends up on the Jets, and not the Gints.
He's got a lot of heart, and is not afraid to play. He did, however, post a 0.0 rating against the Pukes two years ago.

Probably more of a personal preference in style of QB's as well as personality. He doesnt have the gun of PRAM but I love his movement, heart and team attitude. I hope he gets a chance to start in a good offense. I have the same feeling about him that I had when we had Trent Green....

If he leaves I hope we can pick either that guy from Haaavard or Craig Ochs from I-AA Montana. Ochs is a monster of a guy and a great capable pickup. The Haaavard guy is unbelievably accurate.
Go I-AA!!! Seriously though, either of these guys will be great assets to whatever team they end up playing for, and given the right coaching can in time perform with the rest of the pack of NFL QBs.
Walter Payton was a late-bloomer out of I-AA as were Charles Haley and Gary Clark - two names I am sure all Redskins fans remember.
Parity is slowly appraoching in Div. I-A and I-AA Football.

Ok I just read on sportsline that there are actually "several teams" interested in him. Now that surprises me a bit. I wonder who they are.

Good, Im happy for him. I'm glad that he's going to finally got a shot. He's a grear QB and I'd had to see him waste his career away as our 3rd QB. I feel he should be our #2 but thats just my imo. Even as our #2 he wouldnt get much time because Ramsey is a tank.
Much success to Tim!
