Mexico could be host to regular-season game...

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Mexico could be host to regular-season game

First NASCAR now the NFL what is with US sports now wanting to play in Mexico?

NFL.com wire reports

NEW YORK (March 15, 2005) -- The first NFL regular-season game outside the United States is expected to take place Oct. 2, when the Arizona Cardinals face San Francisco in Mexico City.

The game is expected to be a Sunday night contest televised by ESPN. It would be a home game for the Cardinals, who rarely sell out their stadium but could draw 100,000 or more in Mexico City.

"We're working on it but it's not finalized yet," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said.

Commissioner Paul Tagliabue said at his annual pre-Super Bowl news conference that a regular-season game outside the U.S. was likely this year.

Michael Bidwill, Cardinals vice president and general counsel, declined to discuss specifics but told The Arizona Republic that playing such a game is "very unique and appealing prospect."

"It would be a historic and unprecedented event," Bidwill said.

What a dumb idea.

Play in Mexico?

For what reason?

To see the all mighty matchup between the Cards and the Niners?

Stupid.

No idiot would want to go to Mexico City to see a dang game between these two. Not even the most loyal Card/9er fan.

I think the idea is to build up the NFL fanbase in Mexico, not buff up the Mexican tourist trade.

Which is why we have to show them real NFL teams like the 9ers and Cardinals. Consider it national reprogramming.

I'd take that bet. Jones has been milking his marketing cow in Mexico for some time.

If there's one thing Mexicans in Texas and Mexico like, it's the pukes and Miller Light.

Not, the Skins and Bud.

No dejes tu trabajo TC. Translation or interpretation are not going to get you very far, at least not in Spanish.

True Mexicans drink cerveza not dilluted Miller light.
