Is Goodspeed still on the roster he could work out as a blocking TE
as far as the first round goes I'd trade down for more picks, after picking up a 2nd rounder and depending how far down in the 1st we would have moved due to the tradedown I'd select
1. Carlos Rogers CB Auburn
2. Marcus Spears DE LSU... (if ACL is OK) or Dan Cody DE Oklahoma
3. Heath Miller TE Virginia
4. Troy Williamson WR South Carolina
Keep in mind Miller would be the only one I spend a pick higher than 16th on, and if Antrell Rolle is there at #9 I'd take him

1niksdeR: You do your homework for sure. I take my hat off. Great choices and options. Good job.
How about passing this message to the front office?
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!
This is the 1st time I've seen The "r" in my username capitalized Thankz for getting it right
Yeah...even you got it wrong when you registered.
I think it's great that everyone wants to trade down... i'm just wondering what makes anyone think we're going to be able to. Teams are NOT likely to want to move up in this draft to get marginal as opposed to superstar talent. Sure i'd love to move down... at least two spots to get out of a top 10 rookie contract... but I just can't see it happening. When everyone wants to 'move down'... usually nobody gets to.
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.
If it's possible to trade down for value, I think it's gotta happen in the first 12 picks. Seems like these guys aren't good poker players on draft day. Shifting and sliding around, getting all jumpy... anything can happen on draft day. Also, the Edge James and Shaun Alexander deals are yet to be resolved. If those get settled soon - it could increase the demand for RB's in the draft - good news for them and for us. Any increase in demand should increase the value of our pick.

and didn't notice for a few weeks
But got it right in the avatar
Has far as trading down I agree there will be more teams trying to move out of the top 10 then teams trying to move up because of the lack of quality available this year

I assume you mean high quality, that and the perception that this is a very deep draft of good prospects!
The 9 pick might be high enough that someone really wants a player but I agree with both of you, not going to be easy this year.
We really are speculating a lot because there are still so many variables. They did their homework last year so we hope that this works out as well!
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
I went with CB. You can't have too many good cover guys, and we should get insurance against Springs or Harris getting hurt.
The only other position I would think of is DE. There are plenty of people out there who know more than me - so are there any pass rushing defensive ends out there who merit a top ten pick?
... and CB TAKES THE LEAD! As free agency begins to settle down a little - there looks to be a lot more talent out there in the draft. I think the Cards picking up Warner will impact the draft too - and they'll go RB for sure...
Why do we need a CB when we saw last year that we can't play without Smoot? That makes no sense to me. A CB would be a waste of a draft pick. We'd waste a pick on a player who may or may not succeed in this league when we can do that with one of our own players and address a larger need with the pick.
If we DON'T get a good pass rush then that ROOKIE CB will get eaten alive.
I agree Chris. I think drafting a CB in the first round is a waste. I want us to draft Mike Williams, but if the top WRs are gone, I would rather have a DE over a CB.
Let us all gather around and drink the ey-Aid of the Redskins.
YES...drafting a corenr is a waster a rookie corner adjusts very slowly in NFL...we wont get the best out of Rolle untill a few years...Wr's adjut fast as u notice( Roy Williams), Mike Williams would be great if hes around
" But you should've seen Joe (Gibbs) when they said he couldn't coach anymore...his chest puffed out and said..i dont care what it takes, were not leaving here without another ring." Coach Joe Bugel
If we sign Courtney Brown then we can focus on CB, WR, TE, and OL in the draft. My view is if Williams and Edwards are gone before our #9 selection we might trade down to get a 2nd rounder and then take CB, TE, and OL in the first 3 rounds.
The best defensive player on the board. Stock up on D, defense wins championships. or because this appears to be weak draft at the top ( no stars ), maybe we trade down for more picks and see if we can find support type players.
Let's take a look at the Redskins recent draft history:
Wide receivers taken in the 1st round: Desmond Howard, Michael Westbrook, Rod Gardner
Defensive backs taken in the first round: Champ Bailey, Sean Taylor
Now, I'll admit that past performance is no guarantee of the future, but it looks to me like it's a lot easier to be successful drafting a db in the first round. Sure, there are some notable receivers that have lit up the league in the first year, but I just don't think that any of the wide receivers in this year's draft are going to help us NEXT season.
I'm not suggesting that we should run scared of picking a position where we've been burned in the past, but let's play the percentage game with our first round pick. We need to insure against the very real chance that Harris and or Springs are going to miss a chunk of the season with injury.

Well, given defense is our strength and our offense is dismal, we need help on O. If we sign Courtney Brown, we still need a CB, but then the rest of our focus should be on O.
If Rolle is still there, I say take him! If he isn't I'd go for a TE, if we sign Courtney Brown but I think we will. So I'd go TE in the 1st round, then take a CB in the 2nd and a sleeper WR in the 3rd, but he has to be big at least 6-4.
Jansen on his broken thumbs:
"It’s limited me in some ways but has been beneficial in others. It’s like I have a couple of clubs on my hands. I just have to hit people with them."
With the news that Gibbs and Co will pay Santana Moss like a #1 receiver it becomes less likely the Skins will draft a WR in round 1. I hope they trade down and get a 2nd rounder.
skins#1fan wrote:u cant actually be that dumb to think we would draft a tight end after the season cooley had. You dont need that kind of depth at that position. We need a wideout that can stretch the field and that is actually a threat. If we dont get a wideout then we will definitely get a cb. We can honestly use either or, a cb or wr but we dont have room for a tight end
Hello ey is the H-BACK so that means we can use a T.E. Royal is a good reciever but not a good blocker Miller is though.
Ok I will bet any of yall...we will not draft a corner....mark my word ive xplained myself in many other threads, I have a very good reason I think that so if any of yall want to know jus ask

The suspense is killing me....why won't we draft a corner as our first pick?
Gibbs seems satisfied with the upcoming recieving corp. Regarding the secondary, as the rules are now, no CB will be a dominating factor (think about it, both the networks and the owners want a higher scoring and longer game to sell more commercial time for the network and to sell more concessions and souvenirs at the stadium). The upcoming draftees are talented, but there seems to be fewer standouts than in the past and the true BIG TIME players will be going prior to picks 8-9. Snyder is a gambler so what the heck, lets trade down in the 1st and pick up a 2nd and 5th giving up a 7th and/or 6th in the process. This allows us to still pick up quality players early and evade the MASSIVE signing bonus and overpayment of a mediocre choice for a #9 pick (this also helps with the salary cap). At this point base our needs on what's still availble. There's going to be a lot of bargains in the late 1st and early 2nd. If we are going to pick at #9 we should take a CB, WR or a QB that will attempt a scramble or throw it away insead of sticking the "O" with 3rd and 4th and VERY long.
