It's been some time since Perry played but with the Skins' 3rd &4th & short problems, I wonder about drafting someone huge with quick feet(for someone huge). Marcus Spears played fullback early in college and is a pretty athletic guy for 307lbs. I'm also not clear on the rules for two way players, like Sapp as a tight end. Speculation of course, but what if we drafted Elton Brown(330 road grader) and lined him up as a TE next to Samuels? I couldn't see many teams with the defensive power to stop anyone running behind Elton, Samuels, and Dockery on desperate-and-inches downs. Just a thought

That would work really well on Maddn 2005, naw just kiddin...but that would probably only work on goaline situations (elton brown scenario). Elton is a good O-Lineman, why not use him on the line for whoever drafts him...

If you came out in that package anywhere else on the field, the whole world would know that 1) you are running the ball and 2) what side you are running to.

That would only bring up an extra defender and kind of negate the whole point of having him at TE. But i think shaking things up on the goalline would work. In fact we did that but on the Defensive side by playing rookie o-lineman Jim Molinaro at Defensive end one game.

I do agree it would seem obvious which side we would run to but in terms of sheer manpower, either they stack 6 on that side and we run behind jansen or they don't and we can get the push behind the big guys. Just speculating in terms of a return to Hog Glory, :idea:

i feel you, but keep in mind, our running game will improve as our passing game improves. The more of a deep threat we pose passing the football with Patten and Moss, the more they have to respect the pass and that opens up things on the ground. most good running backs play on a team with a good passing game i.e. Edgerin James led the league in rushing despite Mannings excellent season.

if we pose a threat deep, they can't commit extra defenders to the box. With one on one blocking schemes and portis' vision and shiftiness we are looking at a totally different offense. I like shaking things up like you do.

I think gibbs would through teams off if he inserted a few 4 or 5 wide receiver sets. you can even run out of that formation just to keep the d honest.

Yeah, it actually works pretty well on Madden!

Seriously, the Packers have been doing that for a while. They put in a tackle at the TE position and run. But sometimes they pass out of that formation just to keep the D on their toes.

On a side note I just saw napoleon Dynamite for the first time tonight. After watching that I feel sort of awkward.

Mike Sellers weighs 260, and I see him in there in goal line situations all the time. I think were pretty set with him as far as having a big guy blocking in short yardage situations.

I agree, Sellers should get the ball down on the goal line - at least TRY it once. After watching David Pollack in the workouts - wonder if he'd like to carry the ball a couple of times a year :0)
