Obviously cb. We will need someone to replace fred smoot. I mean what happens if springs got hurt. Who do we have to soften a blow like that. I dont want to hear that bolgna about g. wilds either. He hasnt proven anything. Plus a really good cb is far fewer then good wr's.

Although I would still like to see us be able to get Mike Williams, I think now our needs are for a cornerback

DE, DB, WR, or TE....which ever position we draft with our 9th overall pick, I can honestly say I'll be happy with any of them. After drafting Taylor & Cooley last year, I have complete faith in Gibbs & company. I'm really pumped because I think they have another diamond in the rough or two that they'll drop on us. So if they go DB, no sweat they'll have a great WR just waiting in the wings to spring on us. or vice versa WR to DB etc, etc.

Either CB or WR. If Mike Williams is gone, I think we should take Antrel Rolle.

DRAFT HEATH!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by fleetus »

There is not another player in the first round who is more of a typical Joe Gibbs kind of player than Heath Miller. He would team up with Cooley at H-back to be the best TE combo in football. DRAFT HEATH!

 I can't believe you said that! I agree with you 100%. I thought about posting something similar to that, but didn't feel like getting thrown to the lions. However, now that you've said it here first..I'll back you on that one all the way.

u cant actually be that dumb to think we would draft a tight end after the season cooley had. You dont need that kind of depth at that position. We need a wideout that can stretch the field and that is actually a threat. If we dont get a wideout then we will definitely get a cb. We can honestly use either or, a cb or wr but we dont have room for a tight end

I agree that a tight end is not a pressing need right now, especially with the 9th pick in the draft. C'mon u guys think about it! A cb or wr would be the best route to take with cb having an edge over wr because of the loss of smoot.

Cooley was drafted as a TE but he is our H-Back, so yes we need a TE. Drafting a TE with the 9th overall pick is not very likely but you wouldn't see me crying on draft day if they did because it helps the run & the pass in a big way. Can you say more help at run blocking? Can you say better pass protection, depending on the play?

Then why hasn't anyone voted for TE in the pool?

I voted for TE...

I'd be fine if we:
1) traded down to the 20th spot in the 1st round & picked up a 2nd round pick; &
2) traded Gardner for a 3rd round pick.

Draft Heath Miller in the 1st round, a DE in the 2nd round, a CB and WR in the 3rd round, and another CB in the 4th round.

I voted DE.

Why do we need a CB when we saw last year that we can't play without Smoot? That makes no sense to me. A CB would be a waste of a draft pick. We'd waste a pick on a player who may or may not succeed in this league when we can do that with one of our own players and address a larger need with the pick.

If we DON'T get a good pass rush then that ROOKIE CB will get eaten alive.

We DONT need a TE! I have been wathing Gibbs coach since he began in the early 80's, and he has NEVER used the TE position enough to warrant the 9th pick. In this offense, a TE is almost 100% a blocker, who may catch the occasional pass. We would be crazy to waste a pick on Heath, and then have him leave in a few years because he wants the ball more. We have NO depth at CB, and need to address the position 1st. WR's are deep this year, and can be found in rounds later on. JMO

I say we take the player who we have as the highest ranked on our board regardless of position.

My view is the 1st round pick should be a starter in his first year. That being said, which player is likely to be a starter for the Skins in '05?

I've got to go with CB and specifically Antrel Rolle. I'm just enamored with guys from THE U, they're almost always solid draft picks (at least on D). Taylor, Springs, Bowen, Clark, Harris and Rolle roaming in the secondary will give Williams all the freedom he needs in his EXTREMELY aggressive scheme.

While I'd like a big play WR, to be honest, I'm too afraid of blowing another 1st round pick. Howard, Westbrook, Gardner...enough. Maybe trade down and try to grab a guy like Mark Clayton or something. Who knows. just my two cents

Hey, let's not get personal - too close to name calling here. State your case, make your comments based on your intel/ opinions... keep it clean and respect people for their own opinions - please and thank you.

That said, I don't see the need for a TE myself. I like Robert Royal a lot. If we're going to get a blocking TE - they're a dima a dozen in the NFL - no big rush to get one either way imho. Certainly, I wouldn't take a TE with the #9 pick.

I think the best player available is the way to go. Mike Williams is a stud in the making - so it Rolle. I'd have to rank them both very high - Williams above Rolle.

I think we should convert one of our spare offensive linemen to blocking tight end.

I agree with both of you but not at the #9 spot! We would have to trade down. If we had and every down TE that was a good pass catcher and blocker, we wouldn't need a possension type WR. I just think that Heath (I hate that name though) Miller would add the most to our team. And for those of you that think we don't need a TE because we have Cooley; well Cooley is an HB, not a TE. We could send Moss and Patten deep and keep in either Cooley or Miller to pick up a Blitzer. And if none came, we would be threatening the defense deep and have 1 or 2 good pass catchers underneath. That isn't counting Portis or Betts coming out of the back field. Kind of scarry.

I voted CB. A Rolle to be precise.

This vote is based on reality, not fantasy. I see him as the best available player possibly available at #9.
