Get off the bandwagon then

Post by BossHog »

Sick and tired of a lot of the belly-aching, so as promised yesterday, here's my own take on the 'State of the offseason':

http://www.the-hogs.net/content/main.php?id=437

Hopefully some of you will draw some modicum of sensibility after reading it. I don't work for the Post or ESPN, so apparently I'm not really 'qualified' to state my opinion, but I am regardless.

I agree, eread, very good stuff!

Boss, I think this is very well done, and I am particularly proud of the "tone". You're probably not qualified as a "reporter" because you do not seem to have an agenda. Most reporters seem to have to "hype" the "story line" in order to dramatize things and make it more exciting.

One of the penalties for being an enviable franchise IMO is that others (especially "reporters") think it's their duty to jump all over us and try and bring us down to the others level. This is sometimes called the "tall poppy syndrome".

I think it is particularly bad that local "reporters" are so down on the team and as you so eloquently point out, it's March!

To those "fans" who want off! Leave the "agony" of this season to us, we can handle it. No more ranting about how much trouble we are in , just go!

BH is generous about suggesting you clean your suits! - I say "see ya".

thanks BH & the other fans who have "supported" the moves lately.
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

BH,

I've read thousands and thousands of posts on thehogs.net since I started reading this site. That was singlehandedly the most accurate and captivating read I've seen on thehogs.net. You hit the proverbial nail on the head. Kudos to you!!
Sit back and watch the Redskins.

Boss,

Thanks for the great article. I really get angry looking around at the news articles from the "professional" news sources. They seem to be trashing the Skins no matter what they do. I guess the only way our team can get outta that is by winning...which I hope we will do a lot of this coming season. Thank you for providing a reality check to everyone. Hail to the Skins!

Thanks Boss for a well written analysis of where we are right now. No one can value the off season until its over - or more correctly until after 4 or 5 games next season. Joe Gibbs was never going to get this team sorted out in one season or even two. Its going to take longer and hopefully the decisions that are being taken now will help us get back to where we all believe we belong - playing for Championships.
Lets go Redskins !

Great article, I hope everyone on the board reads it, I believe it will get a lot of members to stop hating for a while, and as you said, give it time, and judge this offseason when the games start. As you mentioned, years past, we have had what was considered a "great" offseason, and it helped us little. Seems like a lot of other teams in the league always have offseasons that you don't hear much about, and then go out and make the playoffs year after year, because they resign their players, and fill holes first, and that is what the Redskins did, I believe they did what was best for the organization, even with taking the Coles cap hit.
My children, gather round! No retreat, no surrender; that is Spartan law. And by Spartan law we will stand and fight... and die. A new age has begun. An age of freedom, and all will know, that 300 Spartans gave their last breaths to defend it!

According to the media, the "greatest" thing about our offseason has to be the Coles-Moss trade. Big name people sell stories. Big hole in the salary cap gives them another opportunity to bash this organization for poor judgements. Only that which sells will be "great" to the media. Danny boy has fallen into their laps like a puppy dog, but Gibbs is taking the route of the Patriots, and I for one am ecstatic. It's all about VALUE. We are getting it now.

When was the last time you heard someone say, Wow, the Patriots had a GREAT offseason!? C'mon! Wake up people, we are headed in the right direction.

That was a great article. It would be nice if there was a way to have it printed in the Washington Post.

Nice post BH. Additionally, what no one seems to be saying is that Gibbs inherited a team on the brink of cap disaster. Gibbs is doing what has to be done. But a lot of it we can thank Spurrier and the other former sudo-coaches for. We all knew these cap problems were coming. Gibbs only real mistake has been Brunell.

I am really feeling that post BossHog!! I am glad I always been loyal Redskin no matter the situation. I dont agree with all decisions made, But I'm no coach or player....And I know Gibbs is no failure!

Proud to be a Redskin!!!!

listen... well written article, but i am one of those that isnt lieking this offseason one bit. i can totally deal with losing coles. he was a whiner and wasn't happy over catching 90 balls. what nmakes me upset about that situation is that is seemed to have a domino effect on the signing of pierce and smmot. i get what alot of people say about pierce ok... i mhave moved on... what i cannot and will not get over is smoot. i don't care what anyone says.... if the vikes paid him great corner money or not he was a great corner here. he played his guys out and played well for the skins. he was a valuable player to this team not only in his play but in his attitude. i'll be there opening game in sept. it's not fair for anyone to call me unfaithful just cause i have a difference of opinion. i'll be cheering just as loud as anyone and i hope to god that some of you guys are right and this is all part of some masterplan.

P.S. the masterplan better kick in soon cause in a few years they won't be able to afford much of a plan at all.
May #21 never be worn again by another Redskin but may every Redskin play like they are wearing #21 on their backs.

Part of the Master Plan is to rectify the cap hell we are in and will be in for the next 1-2 years. Remember the Spurrier plan was to sign big time FAs with the goal of winning in 2-3 years and then worry about the cap then. Well, the rest is history.

Just out of curiosity, does it drive you nuts to have to type "center" instead of "centre" ?
