oafusp wrote:I think this trade was horrible. Moss is a decent player, as is Coles with a broken toe.

What bothers me is that the Redskins already gave the Jets a 1st round pick, and now the Skins have to eat $9 million from the bonus Coles got.

At the end of the day it comes down to this:

Redskins receive: Santana Moss *and have to dish out more money for Moss's extension)

Jets receive: Coles (with majority of bonus already paid), Redskins 1st round pick which was used to select DT Dewayne Robertson who will be an anchor on their line for years.

Why didn't the Redskins make the Jets give Moss an extension and pay his bonus like the Skins had to do with Coles. Then both teams would be paying bonuses for players no longer on their roster....which would be fair. But, you can't forget the Jets got our 1st round pick in 2003 too. Uggh! We will be paying the bonuses of 2 WR's but only 1 WR is on the team!
And we lost a 1st round pick that could have been young stud going into his 3rd year of his young NFL career.

Bottom line: REDSKINS GOT HOSED ON THIS TRADE
(and using the excuse, "at least we got something...or, he was going to leave anyway"...is unacceptable.)

Plain and simple...the Skins should have got more...either another player or a draft pick.

PS - Is this the largest thread in TheHogs.net history?
Does this mean you guys are finally done with all the Jetskins jokes?

Well what goes around....It really looked as if we screwed the Jets back in 2003 but aparently they got the last laugh. They were smart not matching as dollar for dollar to retain their FAs. (Except for Thomas) We got hosed. Fine.

They is a quote I heard from Keith Richards of all people that stuck in mind. "This is just the price of an education." (Which was his nonchalant reply after being asked about being cheated out of money from his manager.)

In other words we can deal with the LC signing bonus BUT lets making certain something like this doesn't happen again.

It is the price of an education!

Yeah, TC! But at the end of the day we have the Redskins and they are still the Jets.

Now, really, I ask you! Aside from the 2 (3?) obvious teams, how many of them are there that you are so glad that they are NOT your team? For me the Jets are 1 of those teams.

Next year does not look any better for them and they need all the help they can get!

We helped them with this deal but we did not hurt ouselves, too badly, IMO!
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Good try BH,reliving the SB days again. I though we agreed the past is the past?

I mean it looks feeble of you too try to hold on to a decade old SB trophy from the gutter of the NFC.

Have fun with that

Coles is a washed up 27 year old. How bad is that, he is not the same player and never willbe. Moss I am not a fan of him ethier but he has speed and you can't say the same about Coles and that is why we got the better of the trade.

Yeah and since 1970 the Redskins have more Superbowls than the Jets. And more appearances. How about Ferguson. Hey you are a Woman, why don't you go and pick fights with someone in your same division. Not teams you play every three years. Oh yeah because the Pats kick the crap out of you guys every year. The Bills will kick the crap out of you guys next year they came on strong. You mush really have a life a Jets fan going on to Redskins websites everyday. My team may suck right now but at least I have a life.

If the past is the past then last season doesn't matter right? So if we can't bring up our SuperBowls then you can't bring up your "winning" seasons. As far am I concerned if you don't win the Bowl then you had a losing season.

As of now, we're 0-0.

Moss,Patten,Jacobs,Thrash,Cooley,Royal and D Mack depending on his status with the team gives us a pretty good group of pass-catchers. With that kind of speed on the outside, even Brunell will now be able to get the ball downfield.

Like ever fan tells the Redskins the past is the past. We sucked last year, but that was last year. This year is a new year and it will be different. Gibbs is getting rid of the crap and bringing in substance.
