What good would getting their number 4 do? The players we want will be there at 9, theres no since in throwing Gardner away. I say we pick up a player or a 2nd/3rd round pick.

We need depth on Defense, we are a physical team.

Best case scenario we traded Gardner to the Vikes for our 2.

That would be awesome. It'd be nice to go into a draft with a 1,2, and 3 picks. That's something most teams take for granted but it hasn't happened for us since 2002.

We all have heard that Gibbs doesnt care for DMac that much b/c he doesnt practice good. I think by trading up to #4 we can pick up Williams and get rid of Gardner. We have good depth at defense. If we need depth anywhere its the O'line.

If we were able to trade Gardner to the Vikings I think it would help us out in two ways. We would pick up a mid round draft pick and we would significantly lower the prospects of them selecting a WR with the 7th pick in the draft. If the trade were to go through then the only team that I think would look WR ahead of us (barring a team trading up) would be the Titans but I think that they would opt for a defensive player (as they lost both starting CB and their D-Line has been torn apart over the past two off-seasons).

I believe that the Vikings are desperate to improve on the defensive side of the ball. I have never seen them drafting offense with their first pick. Their basis for dealing Moss was their offense would still be above average without him and they could then improve their D. For this same reason they do not want to sign a "big name" reciever like Plaxico and thus essentially admit that they are now lacking on O. I think this trade would be great for both sides - I would love for it to happen even if we can only get a 4th round pick though I am hoping for a 3rd.

The Vikings haven't signed Plaxico because the owner doesn't want to pay out any signing bonuses right before he sells the team.

It's funny, us Redskin fans are real homers...Once we heard the Skins wanted to trade Gardner - posters on this site immediately made him out to be horrible. He's not...A guy like Gardner on the right team, could be very effective. Imagine him on the Eagles with Owens? He would be good. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if Gibbs decided to keep him as our "big"/possesion WR, actually.

I know that last line will get others going...but, I feel that way about Gardner. Obvisouly, he's not R Moss or T. Owens but he's a very servicable #2 WR who doesn't complain, blocks very well, and has been on a crappy team since getting drafted. All of us need to admit, the Skins have SUCKED since he got drafted -- and it hasn't been his fault either.

They have the #7. The Bears have the #4. But I do agree, I think it may be a good idea to move up to #7 and give the Vikes our #9 and Gardner. It could increase the odds of us getting Mike Williams or Braylon Edwards. I would rather move up instead of getting an addition low round pick. If it was a 2nd rounder, then that's a different story.
Let us all gather around and drink the Cooley-Aid of the Redskins.

I think your wrong on that bro.... at the begining of last off season... when no trade rumors were around ..... this message board felt exactly as they do know on 50/50...

Sure the guy makes some great catches.... but he can't make the clutch ones for the most part... he can't make that 3rd and 9 catch the majority of the time...

he might do well in somebody else house... and if he does... good for him... but he's been here long enough to show that he's not gonna do it here... so that's why most people feel as they do... it's not being a homer... all though most of us are one atleast some time or another at this board... ;)

I have been making Rod out to be pretty bad for years now. We've collectively been calling him "50-50" at least as long as I've been posting here.
Don't make this out to be some "off the bandwagon" effort. If he was any good, he'd be staying. Joe doesn't look to trade productive players. He doesn look to trim fat wherever possible. A veteran ballplayer who hosts drunken birthday bashes in the middle of the workweek, resulting in a prized rookie getting arrested for DUI ? That's fat.
That ain't Ray Handley calling the shots up there, you know.

yeah we all loved Gardner

That's why THE BEST line at training camp LAST YEAR was from our own DEHog's mouth:

Hey guys, I just tried to get Gardner's autograph...

... but he kept dropping the pen.

ROTFALMAO

... it's still funny to me.
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.

How can you defend a poor Receiver such as Gardner?

He runs lazy routes, drops more than 50% of passes thrown at him and does a horrible job of run blocking.

The only thing he does right is throw awesome parties.

Boss, thats so funny. But seriously, he isn't that bad. If you guys remember when we played Dallas he was the only player besides, and as much as it is to say the name, Brunell to step up and risk it all. He almost helped us win that game single handidly. (? spelling) I think that if we can get something good for him then it makes sense but if we're just going to throw him away then lets keep him. He knows our offense and what we're trying to do. He's worth keepin around for another year.

I'm sick of reading that he drops 1/2 his passes. I'm prone to exaggeration too but this is crazy. Coles dropped as many passes as Gardner this past year.

Gardner is NOT a bad WR...

This is what we should see from him every game... that game was what we expected from a guy drafted with the 15th pick in the first round....

but 2 or 3 games a year.... doesn't cut it in my opinion... I had this guy on my fantasy football team for the past 4 years (everybody point and laugh)... hoping that he would pull his head out of his butt and come around... I watched him and I watched him and watched him... and all that I got was inconsistency... that's why he's given the name 50/50... you really think everyone would go around calling him that if it wasn't true?... he's had his chance... this is the last year we're gonna be able to get anything out of him... I'll take a 6th or a 7th for him just so we get rid of him and get something in return...

I posted these stats from before the last game of the season at Minnesota...

Coles: 94 passes hit him in the hands, he dropped 7 = 1 drop every 13 passes that hit him in the hands
Gardner: 59 passes hit him in the hands, he dropped 9 = 1 drop every 6 passes that hit him in the hands
Thrash: 12 passes hit him in the hands, he dropped 1 = 1 drop every 12 passes that hit him in the hands
Jacobs: 13 passes hit him in the hands, he dropped 1 = 1 drop every 13 passes that hit him in the hands
McCants: 5 passes hit him in the hands, he dropped 0

not to much one can say otherwise... he's atleast dropping them half more that the rest of the WR core... :|
