By this time tomorrow... (UPDATED 3/25)

Post by REDEEMEDSKIN »

Okay, I was sitting on this tidbit of info for the past two weeks, but now I have confirmation of it being a success...

By this time tomorrow, "The Reedemed One" and "Señora Redeemedskin" will be proud homeowners in the Commonwealth of Virginia!!!! \:D/

This is our first home, and we are excited to get to work on it. We'll be moving in sometime in April, when our apartment lease runs out.

Naturally, I'm extremely thankful [-o< for His provision. :hail: :hail:

GOD IS GOOD... ALL THE TIME!

Be sure to ask your wife before you cover your basement walls with Brunell and Wuerffel posters.

Congrats Redeemed. Enjoy.

Congrats Redeemed, where is the new crib located?? Jansenfan and I will soon be buying. Now that my career path is hopefully settled. We rent a house now and it's always worked out. We just would like to build equity for ourselves as opposed to for our landlord! ;-) Good luck with the move! It isn't easy. We've moved nine times thanks to the Marine Corps. My best tips would be label everything! Even if you don't think it needs a label put one on it. And if there is anything you do not want broken or lost move it in your car. Something ALWAYS gets broken or lost.

Congrats Redeemed...! Being a homeowner is great... especially at tax time!

One question - you didn't happen to move next door to Homer Simpson did you?

In all seriousness - where abouts? I grew up in Herndon.

Congrats.

My advice is that if anything needs done before you move in(new paint et.al.), pay storage for a few days or overlap the closing with the end of your lease and get it done before your things arrive.

Repainting the living room or replacing a chair rail in the dining room is so much easier without furniture in the way.

The only other thing you need to do is talk to your realtor privately, slip them a few bucks, and have him/her have flowers and a personalized card from you awaiting inside for your wife when she walks in the front door of YOUR new home for the first time.
This space reserved for BTP......If he ever wins it.

Congrats Redeemed with the cost of housing around the MD-Virginia area doing nothing but going up it is becoming quite an accomplishment to get a home.

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone. (yes, even BH's ) Todo nos fue bien!

Now, to answer a few questions:

Jaske wrote:Be sure to ask your wife before you cover your basement walls with Brunell and Wuerffel posters.

The Brunell-Wuerffel Memorial wing is lated to begin construction in 2008. Our engineering dept. is hard at work designing a layout that could best honor these two Redskin greats.

Believe me, there will be a special motorcade for the transportation of the kit. Thanks for lookin'out for a brutha!

This was some great advice (definitely worth re-posting)!! Unfortunately, I was unable to arrange for the delivery of flowers. Fortunately, our realtor had a plant for us, so our home now has its first greenery.

I mentioned your idea to my wife, and she thought it was a good one, as well. I have promised her to have flowers for her the day we move in to the house (slated for end of April)

Again, thank you all for the shout-outs. My wife and I are excited. For those looking to purchase a home, a word of advice...

Never underestimate the power of prayer.

Having a good credit score helps, too.

Blessings! :D

So, let me get this straight.
The end is near, so buy a house now ?
What ? The market bottomed out ?
Whatever. Good luck.
Take your sweet time picking the furnishings, because the wife won't like what you buy today this time next year.

Read the updated sig line, sir. O:)

Thanks for the advice. Right now we're not thinking furnishings as much as we are refinishing the floors, and some other cosmetic work the house needs.

Anyone have some good advice on painting the exterior of a home??? (Purchasing vinyl siding is not an option at the moment.)

Pretend like the painting is a lot of fun, and when one of your buddies walks by you can trick him into trading your painting job for his new-found piece of string.

Anyone have some good advice on painting the exterior of a home???

- Don't paint the exterior just for aesthetics...ie, your or your wife doesn't like the color...for a year or two. You might find you like it. After all, you live INside the house.

- When you paint, hire a painter. Ballpark cost around here (NJ...where we moved from a 5-bedroom house last April) is (was?) about $30,000. Expensive, but real housepainters will do things like properly sand the walls before they paint. Also, they have insurance for their workers (as in, do you want to be responsible if a guy falls off a ladder on your property?)

- Therefore, wait until your money situation has settled down. The first year is the hardest, because there will be things you never thought of that really need fixing.

- Do the "must haves" first and the "nice to haves" later
