Smoot's price just went up

Talk about the Washington Football Team here. Do you bleed burgundy and gold?

You have to look at what he brought to the table besides his play on the field. He was a voice in the huddle and great in the locker room. He's also a great character guy. I want him back, and if that means 15 mil, then we pay it and keep Coles.

You really cannot measure how much positive affect that has on the team as a whole. To be honest I think Smoot played better than Bailey when he was in Washington. Bailey was quick and fast, but he was emotionless....Not to mention, started to get burnt on a regular!! And to me Smoot represents what a "core" Redskin at the least should be. I dont believe you will catch to many NFL players out there playing with a cracked sternum, besides maybe IR prone McNair!

Smoooooooooooooooooooot!

I think you're taking it a bit far by saying Smoot was better than Chump. Smoot was maybe comparable to Chump during his last season as a Skin but he's not as good as Chump imo. Chump is not a shutdown corner either.

Smoot isn't worth a 15mill bonus, he's worth the 10.3 we offered him. If he doesn't want to take it, he can leave.

I may have reached a bit, but I really cannot find to many difference or skills Chump has that is superior over Smoot? I do agree 15 mil SB is a bit ridiculous, but as sports are businesses...unfortunately you have to base it on the market value of other players in the same position. Plus Chump didnt want to be a Redskin....Smoot never said that. That weighs very heavy I would think.

I hope Smoot gets a HUGE BONUS!!! with another team, preferably abother NFC EAST team. Just Like Pierce with the GIants. If they aren't going to resign with us then take as much cap space from our competitors as you can!!! Pierce isn't worth 4.5 mil A YEAR and Smoot isn't worth #1 CB money whether that be 14 MIL signing bonus or more. So lets hope he kills the salary cap of one of our worst enemies.
Build through the draft!

I take it you are referring to me, when you say "some of you skins fans". LOL.. I never said Chump was sorry, he just aint as nice as he thinks! As you see, he is still getting burnt...cause he thinks he is so fast! But like I said Chump didnt want to be a Redskin...thats why they didnt pay him them dollars. And to answer your question regarding if the Redskins dont retain Smoots services...No, I will still respect Smoot as a football soldier. My point is Chump never expressed his LOVE, or DESIRE for or to remain a Redskin!
Next time you want to call me out, its aiight to address me...Its not that serious.

ken lucas just got a $13 mil bonus from the panthers, smoot obviously wants more than that or they would have gotten him instead, these corners arnt worth this money, not even close

if somebody wants to give smoot a $15 mil signing bonus good for him, i hope its not us

My crystal ball says Smoot is gone.

He will be in a Steelers, Browns, or Vikings uniform next year.

Vikings will get Steelers' Plaxico Burress, which frees up the Steelers to sign Smoot. I can't believe Smoot will go anywhere but where there is an honest chance to be in the playoffs and win it all.

He sees that with Washington and so he has not yet left. He could get that in Minnesota or Pittsburgh, but definitely not in dysfunctional Cleveland.

I can't see the Steelers forking over that kinda of coin on Smoot.
God bless our troops and Joe Gibbs.
We'll miss you, Joe.

Let me ask you guys, what teams are still in the running for nabbing Smoot? KC seems to be going for Rolle, Dallas is out...

I am real glad we are sticking with are guns at 10 Million. I think eventually we'll just split the difference and give him a 11.5-12 Million bonus. I don't think he's quite worth that much, but he is quality player thats good for the team.

It's tough to say. Who would have thaought that Carolina would invest that much in a CB given what they have and other team needs?

But you have to look at the Vikings. The only thing holding them back is the ownership situation.

KC will sign one of the corners but who knows which one.

The Browns have a weakness there but might address it in the draft.

The Raiders may be in the market if they move Woodsen.

The Chargers may jump in if opt not to go with a corner in the 1st.

One of the corners (probably Law) will still be around after the draft, so it may be Smoot with the well run dry.

My bet right now is that Washington looks at Pac-Man Jones in the first or trades down and targets Carlos Rogers (If Coles and Gardner both stay and they don't go WR) and lets Smoot walk.

You can replace the Browns with Ravens in my above post to reflect Baxter's signing.

The Ravens are in a great position to choose from whomever they deem third on the CB board though, so I doubt they take a hard look at Smoot.

It's the only position I see them targetting in the first given their needs and they're already paying big money to one CB. Of course any team that had Deion on the field isn't real deep at the position so you never know.

*edit* I see that Baxter's SB was #10.5 which really puts a damper on the Redskins standing $10 offer to Smoot.

I think that 12.5 for smoot is realistic and lock him in for 7 years. He's a great player and very young. When we resign him everyone will be happy.
