CHARLES WOODSON

Post by SKINSLOVER »

SINCE CHARLES WOODSON IS BEING TRADED SHOULD WE FORGET ABOUT SAMARI AND MAKE A RUN FOR WOODSON. I THINK WE SHOULD JUST AN OPINION AP reports four-time Pro Bowl CB Charles Woodson signed a $10.5 million tender Friday as the Oakland Raiders' franchise player, perhaps trying to force a trade. By signing, Woodson puts the Raiders far over the salary cap. "The actions of agent Carl Poston and Charles Woodson tell us that they must have reached a long-term deal with a team and we expect a trade very soon," the Raiders said in a statement. Poston could not be reached for comment Friday, but may have determined that the Raiders planned to shop Woodson anyway and looked for a possible suitor himself. Woodson, also the Raiders' franchise player last season, received the franchise tag Tuesday. He received a one-year contract offer worth $10.5 million, a 20 percent raise over last year's salary of nearly $8.8 million. Raiders.com also reports-THE ACTIONS OF AGENT CARL POSTON AND CHARLES WOODSON TELL US THAT THEY MUST HAVE REACHED A LONG-TERM DEAL WITH A TEAM AND WE EXPECT A TRADE VERY SOON.

Could we even consider trading for him with our cap position?

I think that we cant do anything until we do something with Samuels. Once we do that, then we can talk.

The Skins are going after Rolle because he doesn't require any trade compensation. I don't know why they choose to pay Rolle more than what Smoot was originally asking for. Makes absolutely no sense to me. I hope the stories are false.

No. We would still have to pay Woodson the $10.5 mil this year.

No point in even discussing Woodson. IMO, he's overrated anyways.

I agree Jake. He could restructure his contract and then trade but there is probably some clause in there that would have him have an accelerated bonus. But why would he even do that, he's getting paid 10.5 mil this year. I wouldnt leave. Especially now that Moss is in town.

Uhhh, how quickly some forget about Rolle.

Latest news is that he has agreed to a 7 year contract w/ $15 Million bonus.

Just needs to sign on the dotted line.

here's my take on this:

1 Woodson- NO
2 Rolle- NO
3 Smoot- YES

I'd rather eat dead animal flesh than sign Woodson. What is the matter with everyone wanting high priced free agents.

No way I would want CW. He's far too expensive and he totally reminds me of Champ. Overrated by the media...

How on earth are we going to get him? He's due a lot of money and is gonna be way more than smoot. We (the redskins) need to just shut up and sign smoot. I think its funny how some on this board talked about how smoot wanted too much money and he was being greedy, but you guys are fine with signing Rolle or Woodson to a much higher contract. I say we sign troy brown and put him out there.

But to be real, we shouldn't spend more than we have, it'll hurt us in the end. I say we sign a mediocre corner, and in williams blitz happy defense it'll make him into a better corner.

No one. He's talking to the Chiefs today. Pasquarelli is the only one who seems to think the Skins offered 15 mil.

Mar. 2 - The Redskins were believed to be on the verge of signing Rolle, but the Washington Times is reporting that the team is cooling on Rolle because his price tag is too high. However, ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the Redskins remain interested in signing Rolle and are prepared to give him a $15 million signing bonus.

The Post and the Times reported it was all a ruse to exploit Dan Snyders name and drive up the price of Rolle. I hope we don't spend big money on any free agent other than Pierce and Smoot, assuming they don't get too greedy and price themselves right out of Washington.

I like the Troy Brown idea, he gives us flexability. If we get smoot back or sign another CB (Henry?) then he plays WR, is not, he fights for a CB job.

Troy Brown isn't going to sign with any team that intends to use him as a CB.

No more big bucks altogether... We don't need Woodson, Rolle, or any of the other 1000 people in F/A. We need to resign our people if at all possible and go back into our stable of players and let them step up.
