Najeh Davenport -- FB from Packers

Post by fredp45 »

I know you all will think I'm crazy but I think Davenport would be worth our 4th round pick...He's a restricted FA.

We really really need a big back. Davenport is 6'1" 250 lbs...he gets 5 yards a carry. I'd cut Rock for this guy.

I wouldn't give him huge bucks but he'd be worth having for a reasonable salary, assuming the Packers don't match it!

Davenport is good..BUT while in college he broke into a girls dorm room while she was sleeping and took a poop in her laundry basket!

No kidding...do a Google on it if you don't believe me.

I think Gibbs might count that as a character issue...if not a bowel control issue.

very interesting oafusp...hadn't heard that one.

We all have stuff in our closets, unfortunately for this young lady she had more than that.

A college prank, we all did stupid stuff back then.

I'd still take him.

I was aware of that Davenport story. I think it's hilarious.

He would be worth our 4th round pick. He is a battering ram and he could be the goal line back we have been looking for. There have been so many times over the last couple years were we couldnt convert 2nd or 3rd and shorts and we ended up punting. That kills you in the field position battle and the time of possession battle. I'd love to see Davenport come here.

I think he is a solid player but we need all of our picks, build thru the draft, we have Betts, Cartwright, and Simon already.

What do Cartright and Simon bring to the team though? If Rock could bulk up to 240lbs or so, he could be the guy..

I'd take a look at Davenport. Nobody we get in the fourth round could contribute as much and as quickly. The catch is I think ND is going to get paid and I wouldn't want to commit any serious dollars to him.

when Ahman Green got hurt last year didn't he run for close to 200 yds in a game, hell yeah, i want him....he would be a great fit for Gibbs.....Gibbs loved the big backs(Riggins, Byner, etc.) It would give us that 1-2 punch that the Atlanta Falcons has....they got to the playoffs with Duckett and Dunn, we'd certainly get to the playoffs with Portis and Davenport....great thinking guys...he's definetley worth the 4th round pick.....unless we draft Maurice Clarett with it...Just Kidding guys! Don't stone me for that one!

i think it would be beneficial to get Davenport or a back like him to spell Portis on short yardage. He took a his fair share of shots trying to convert short yardage and goaline situations. having a big body like that would keep Portis' legs fresh.
