The impulse is to say the Vikings didn't get nearly enough for Moss. The reality is, offers weren't flooding in and, once they decided to unload him, the Vikings took what they could get. Not only did the Vikings save some cap money so they can further improve the club BUT they got a great young LB, the #7 pick which could easily bring in a top WR to team with the developing Burleson and later round pick. I predict right now that the Vikings will finish with a better record than the Raiders next year.
They're not so sure. The name Herschel Walker has come up a couple of times today in my discussions with them. Now I don't think it's that bad... but some of the vike fans seem to.

i completely agree that the vikings got the better deal...they have so much cap space that they can sign virtually anyone that they want...i see them taking two of the big name WR in FA...drafting Antrelle Rolle with the 7th overall pick and another top defensive guy with their second first round pick...maybe a top DE (pollack/Cody/Roth) to go along side Udeze or drafting channing crowder at LB. Thomas Davis could still be available too...
not to mention moss is a major headache...he's good, but his antics caused a lot of contraversy and negative media attention...
I really think the Vikings fans should be super excited about this offseason and the actual season because they're going to be really good...my opinion

I wouldn't be a fan of Moss at any point. He's another Dijon Sanders. He's got GREAT talent, scores TD's and finds a way to get the ball.
As for the trade - the Vikes got SOMETHING for him. That's better than waiting for him to get out of jail in time to play the next game. He's a cancer - and the cancer is gone.
Getting a starting LB - albeit not the best LB out there AND the 7th Overall pick in the draft aint too shabby. The Vikes also have the 18th overall pick in the draft. They could make a few more moves by the time camp opens. If I knew any Vikings fans, I'd be happy for them.
On the other hand, Moss belongs in Oakland - good, bad, ugly or ugliest - he's a good fit there.

Walker was one of the worst moves in the history of the NFL and the Boys won 3 SB with that trade, however I agree I don't see this as a bad trade in fact I believe the Vikes will have a better record and will win their division with No Moss to deal with

I believe the Vikes jumped the gun way too early on this deal....and didn't get the value they could/should have in dealing one of the games best players. Moss is a head case, but a stud. To trade him for essentially a #7 pick was a steal for the Faiders IMO.
It'll be interesting to see what kind of season Culpepper has next season compared to his extraordinary season this past year.
The thing is, when Moss was out, the offense didn't really skip a beat.
