Gerard Warren?

Talk about the Washington Football Team here. Do you bleed burgundy and gold?

Gerard Warren?

Post by jdmills23 »

The Cleveland news just reported that Gerard Warren does not fit the 3-4 defense that Romeo Crommell is bringing in, therefore he will be released. I know that Warren has not produced for a first round pick (3rd overall to be exact) but he is young, talented, and could come pretty cheap.

I might be overstepping it a little but I think he is an interesting prospect, if the price is right.

I read that they're seeking a possible trade scenario... not just releasing him.

... but that might have been on ESPN.

They say that they are looking at possible trade scenarios but would probably have to release him.

If he didn't seem to be injured all the time it might be an interesting thought.

I would definitely say "pass" on looking at him as an option.

Several reasons:

We don't need a defense tackle. He has underperformed during his NFL career. He is overpaid. Finally, he has character issues. On top of him cheap-shotting Brunell several years back and getting arrested, he made a harsh comment about killing Roethlisberger during a game against Pittsburgh this year.

The guy has issues. Gibbs wouldn't stand for that.

That's folklore and plain untrue. You should be careful making such a broad statement.

Dexter was as 'colorful' as they come.

Not that I think Warren has any value at all, but this misnomer that Gibbs will only employ 'saints' is just that... a misnomer.

Sure he wants character guys more often than not... but coaches recognize that sometimes caged animals have 'issues'.

But didn't Dexter's troubles come AFTER he became a Skin? And Dexter didn't say stupid things like Warren. Dexter was also more personable and easy to get along with and like.

Warren was the guy who said he was gonna kill Rothlisberger? I guess that Pepto Bismal really got to him.

ROTFALMAO

... not exactly a true recollection Junior, but wait... you weren't alive yet. :hmm:

Dexter was never, ever NOT a character. He used to shoot his mouth off constantly. He was a trash talker before it was fashionable. He signed his first contract with an X because he was illiterate. Do you think the Redskins didn't know what they were in for right then and there?

His first suspension from football for drug use came as a WASHINGTON REDSKIN in 1989... how do you figure all his troubles came AFTER the Redskins?

Riggins wasn't a model citizen either, but Gibbs went and pulled him out of retirement. Gibbs has dealt with a lot of crazies.

I'd take him for cheap and he has decent stats, everyone has bones in the closet. Why do we need to worry about what people do?

The ones I'd worry about is the ones who hide there bones.

... he won't come ThAT cheap in my opinion. He still has some market value as a former first round pick.
