The Patriots announced their first round of roster cuts prior to the start of free agency, those cuts included four players:
Earthwind Moreland (DB) - Part-time starter, signed by the team when the Patriots suffered a rash of injuries, including key players like Ty Law and Tyrone Poole. Moreland started two games, but was a concern in pass coverage.
Moreland was pressed into service right away, and provided an extra body in the injury decimated secondary throughout the season.
Buck Rasmussen (DL)- Practice squad player who was never activated for a game in 2004. Spent time with the team in training camp in 2003 and 2004. Was on the practice squad for the 2004 season.
Wilbert Brown (OG) - Claimed off waivers in 2003, never reported to camp. Brown was placed on the reserve/did not report list at the beginning of camp.
Zeron Flemister (TE) - Played for the Washington Redskins for four years, and was signed as a free agent. He was hurt prior to the start of the season, never saw action.
