Both Williams and Edwards will be gone

I am looking at the teams in front of us and I feel that both Edwards and Williams will be gone by pick 9. Bears will pick a WR (probably Williams so thats one gone.) Then the Buc could go for one, the Raiders are always unpredictable, especially regarding taking "star" players, and the Titans have just cut Mason. At this point with Coles gone I feel that we must get one of these two impact players and if it looks as though they'll be gone by pick 9 we should attempt to move up.

Tough call prior to free agency. The Bucs LOVE Cadillac Williams though.

I'm thinking by draft time WR isn't going to be stressing so many of you out. The plan is to make it all good in free agency. So don't stress so much over who will be gone and who will be there! ;-)

Giving that we just increased the size and talent of the WR Free Agents I'd have to say thats a pretty unlikely scenario. Also this is a very weak draft in terms of top notch superstar talent. I mean thats why a guy who hasn't played for a year could likely to go in the top ten. I can't deny the possibility of both of those WR's being gone. Still I wouldn't be willing to trade up to get either of those guys, or anyone in this draft for that matter. I'd much rather trade down and pick up Troy Williamson and an extra pick.

If the Moss deal goes through and the Vikings get the #7 pick that would make it seem even tougher for one of those WR to drop to us.

INMO since we cant get any of these two maybe we should look at retaining Gardner.

Maybe the trading blocks scared him into shape.

I'm not so sure the Vikings will take a WR with the 7th pick. They may go for a defensive player there because that's where they need the most help. With there 2nd first round pick they could get a WR like Clayton.

With Chicago taking Muosh, then I doubt they'll take a WR. I look for the Vikes to go after Mason in FA - Culpepper would be happier with a qualified Pro than any rookie. That being said, Mike Williams looks like the best fit to fill the voids left in Minnesota & Tennessee.

Top 5 WR's by KFFL:

1. WR Braylon Edwards, Michigan (6025, 209, 4.45) - Edwards is the Cadillac of the wideout class this year. More than just production, he delivers the goods for the tape measure and the stopwatch. He's the kind of finished player who should have a short learning curve and fits in virtually any scheme.

2. WR Troy Williamson, South Carolina (6020, 211, 4.38 ) - Here's the guy that's really going to rise up the charts on "Top-100" lists in the coming weeks. You may not have heard of him yet, but that has a lot to do with the fact he had QBs Dondrial Pinkins and Syvelle Newton throwing to him last year. Williamson is the Charles Rogers of this year's draft class, hopefully without the porcelain collarbone.

3. Mike Williams, Southern Cal (6044, 228, 4.55) - The buzz on Williams is still heavy in the wake of his unfortunate decision to come out early for last year's draft. However, of all the players in this year's draft class at his position, Williams could be the one who slides farthest, and it all depends on his 40 time. There are those who believe he won't be able to get under 4.60, which would be damaging to his draft position. Failure, in turn, to get below 4.65 would be absolutely disastrous. Hey Mike, on your mark...

4. Mark Clayton, Oklahoma (5100, 185, 4.45) - You have now reached the "safe" pick among the top receivers in this year's draft class. While lacking the "wow" factor associated with the rest of those in the top-10, Clayton was a big-time playmaker on the college level. But will he get better, or is he a player who has already reached his peak? And his physical numbers aren't eye-popping, either.

5. Fred Gibson, Georgia (6040, 193, 4.50) - Gibson is long and lean and doesn't seem to have grown into his body completely yet, a la Hawaii's Ashley Lelie entering the 2002 draft. He looked really good at the Senior Bowl, however, and could really vault up the charts if he runs well in Indianapolis at the end of the month or in Athens this March.

The Vikes are looking at Plax. So IF we go into the draft looking for a WR in the 1st round then one of them be there at #9

I think it will be hard to find a team willing to move into the top 10 this year but I agree with chaddukes we should trade down and draft this guy

According to yahoo sports, he ran a mid 4.5 and looked absolutely beautiful in all the drills he performed.He will be gone between pick 3 and pick 6, guaranteed unless we trade up.

Finally, a stud.

After weeks of waiting for a prospect to step forward and knock the socks off NFL teams, USC wide receiver Mike Williams gave the league a superstar to orbit around Thursday.

Stepping out in front of 56 scouts, coaches and executives, Williams showcased a combination of size and athleticism that should make him this draft's can't-miss prospect. Standing just an eyelash under 6-foot-5 and weighing in at 229 pounds, Williams ran his 40-yard dashes in the mid-4.5-second range.

One team representative in attendance said Williams "had people grinning" during drills, as he showcased the size and skill that made him one of the most dangerous players in college football two seasons ago.

"He can't get much higher [on draft boards]. There can't be but one, two, three kids ahead of him," the source said of Williams' draft prospects, which have been steadily rising since he ran and went through interviews at the scouting combine last month in Indianapolis. "There might even be some maneuvering around to get at him."

Williams' Thursday workout took place in Tampa, but it wasn't just proximity that explained the presence of almost the entire Tampa Bay Buccaneers brain trust, including coach Jon Gruden and general manager Bruce Allen.

Rumors have been swirling since the combine that the Bucs have locked onto Williams with the No. 5 pick in the draft. One league source suggested earlier this week that the Minnesota Vikings (who have two first-round picks) would attempt to move up to the Cleveland Browns' No. 3 spot to land Williams if the Vikings cannot secure a No. 1 wide receiver via trade or free agency. The Chicago Bears, who own the fourth overall choice, also are interested (general manager Jerry Angelo interviewed Williams in Tampa on Tuesday).

There was some concern about Williams entering the combine, particularly after he had spent one year away from college football and offered no fresh film to evaluate. But a handful of teams said he interviewed well and improved his standing by running his 40-yard dashes after originally planning to bypass the sprint. Considering his size, teams were pleased when he ran in the high 4.5s. With the draft a little more than a month away, the top 10 picks remain almost entirely undefined. Even the No. 1 choice seems shrouded in mystery as the San Francisco 49ers await pro day workouts of Cal's Aaron Rodgers and Utah's Alex Smith.

Williams entered Thursday's workout behind Michigan receiver Braylon Edwards on some scouting reports. That may have changed, but it's worth noting that Edwards will have a chance to respond on March 18, when Michigan holds its pro day.

I think that it doesn't really matter because, if he didn't go between that early he certainly would have went to the Titans or Vikings anyway. If Braylon fell to 9 I would grab him in a heartbeat, not because I think we need many more receivers, but becuase, my philosophy is take the best player available in the Top 10...it is too much guess work to marry yourself to a position and draft whoever is there, may as well take the best guy, and either 1. Trade him for proven value 2. Keep him as a future star 3. Trade an older player at his position for value

That is a better position to be in than say drafting a guy i.e. Rod Gardner, Heath Schuler and he just plain suck.

if you want a can't loose pure stud 1st round pick WR from Michigan...

well then call david terrell's agent.. he is available...Chicago cut him like a prom date that wouldn't give it up... see ya....

stay far away from Edwards....

Im startin to think that Williams will be available...heres wut i think
Bears got mushin muhammed so they will be going rb
Titans need wr and they pick b4 us so lets say they get Braylon
Vikes have weak defense and they are looking at plaxico(likely he will go there) and they are looking at gardner, so they may draft defensively)
Bucs have no rb whereas they have wr's
49ers need a qb
cleveland also needs a qb and arizona has great wr's
so that leaves us with either braylon or mike

A few teams have expressed an interest in trading down. Some of that is talk and some it is to guage what would be offered as a trade. If a trade happens it could change every pick after that.

Well, The Vikings signed Travis Taylor, so the chances of getting either Williams or Edwards has shot up. I really don't think Minnesota will get a WR in the draft now because they got three solid receivers that Culpepper can deal with. Now, my wish is either Dallas or San Diego move to the eighth spot to get Braylon Edwards and the Skins will get Mike Williams. Ok, so that won't happen and we might get Edwards, but Braylon just reminds me of Michael Westbrook, and you know what happen there.

The bucs are all over Williams... he's FROM TAMPA BAY to boot. It's definitely not safe to assume that they wouldn't take him.

Pittman put up decent numbers at the end of last year too... they might not be so desperate for an RB... though I agree that they'd likely grab one if Williams were gone.

Well Boss, I agree that Tampa likes Mike, but remember, he had a good look at Carnell during the Senior Bowl and Michael Pittman I think is up on age in the late 20s, so RB could be the route for the Bucs. Either way, were getting one of the top two receivers after what's going down.
