Is Steve Young a first ballot HOF'er?

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Is Steve Young a first ballot HOF'er?

Post by DEHog »

I think you can make a case for him being a HOF'er, but this soon?? He wasn't very good until he got to SF and then sat behind JM. He was plug into a system that many could've succeeded. Some people make the HOF on one game (Joe Namath) I think the voters look at the here and now. Player are putting up some huge numbers, because of the rules bseing geared toward the offense.

Not a chance. Him getting in first ballot should make Mark Brunell optomistic:shock:

I think he should've been docked a couple of years of eligibility just for that ridiculous scene of him hugging the Lombardi trophy and screaming "we did it!"

Being media friendly, he was a shoo-in.
He was always talking to the press, starring in commercials, etc. Marino, too.
There's no place in Canton for a quiet man who just did his job better than anyone before him, and most after.

Is there another QB that set records and won Super Bowls like Young did who IS NOT in Canton? Despite his "playing in a system", the man had to put on his jock and go play. He deserves the respect of his peers, and what better sign than to be inducted into the Hall. Now, of course, that took a spot from Monk, but, was he [Young] any less deserving than the other enshrinees?
Back and better than ever!

When Jeff Garcia stepped into the same offense he looked good too until they blew up the talent pool. I just don't think he did anything above and beyond his peers.
