Art Monk not in the HOF - DUMP SI
Dear board members,
As you may be aware, Art Monk was not only not inducted in the HOF but he was not even selected among the finalists to be voted for the 80% majority earlier today.
I sincerely believe that this was due to the active lobby of several lousy Sports Illustrated writers such as Paul Zimmerman and Peter King. Their conduct is disgraceful and shameful. I believe that the fans also have a right to make themselves heard by these types in the only way they undertand:
DUMP your subscriptions to Sports Illustrated if you have any, and encourage as many other fans as you can to dump them too.
Let us start a campaign to DUMP SI

I say everyone that is registered to this website should make an entry this weekend and then Bosshog should forward it to Peter King and Pual Zwhateverthellhislastnameis. Hell forward it too as many email accounts as he can and dare someone to reply to us. I'm going to personaly dare those two guys to reach down betweeb their legs and most whatever balls they have to post a reply on our site stating a sain reason Monk is not in the HOF.

These people are dumb as rocks.
As RIC argues, any magazine that features them is not worth buying. It's not even a boycott: it's a simple judgement of SI's quality.

I hate to be the one to put a dampener on all this righteous anger but would it not be better to find out who voted against him first
if I had voted for someone and then got a vitriolic email from somone who also supports who I voted for I would be inclined not to vote for them next time
And believe me - there will be a next time

We know where these two bafoons stand. Each one is -on record- against Monk:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/w ... index.html
We know who we are after.
Anybody that is a member of other boards, please spread the word. Dump SI!
More information is leaking about the process:
Monk got further than he did a year ago, when he was eliminated in the cut from 15 to 10 finalists. "It's disappointing," Redskins owner Dan Snyder said in a statement released through a team spokesman. "Both Art and Russ are among the NFL's greatest players as well as the Redskins', and both belong in the Hall of Fame. Art's admission is long overdue."
The voters, including Leonard Shapiro and Michael Wilbon of The Washington Post, eliminated Richard Dent, Claude Humphrey, Bob Kuechenberg, Roger Wehrli and George Young in the cut from 15 finalists to 10. They eliminated Grimm, Monk, L.C. Greenwood and Derrick Thomas in the cut to six.

I look forward to read what Shapiro and Wilbon have to say for themselves.
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

sent to king for monday morning qb
I have a statement then a question. Just like the Pro Bowl has become a popularity contest, YOU and your ilk have turned the HoF into the same thing. Since you seem to like influencing who gets in instead of just casting your undeserved vote, why don't you start a campaign to change the names to Fan Bowl and Hall of who had less skill but were better stories?
Anyone got email addresses for King and SI? I can't seem to find them...

My questions is.... who the hell had a subcription to SI in the first place? They've been terrible for atleast the past decade....

Shameful
Maybe only a few in this board but you still see it lying around in some public places and dental offices (to put you to sleep, I guess). Let all companies know that SI is NOT the right publication to advertise by joining DUMP SI!BringThePain! wrote:My questions is.... who the hell had a subcription to SI in the first place? Spread the word to anybody in any way you can. Hit them in the only place that they (or their bosses) pay attention to: in their pockets.

To those who go to the games, mebbe you could start a movement of signs bashing Peter King and SI next season. Make a whole theme of bashing those guys and supporting Monk. It could take off. Imagine a stadium full of signs at every homegame. That would get national attention on camera. Not sure how realistic it is, but mebbe being for Monk, it could get rolling. SI ,Peter king, and all the other haters would take notice at that.
Possibly some rich guy on our site here *looks around* could pay to have thousands of signs made up for distribution at the gates?...
or mebbe start a collection or something
