Who does the Parisi Speed School have?

Every year i read about the Parisi Speed School athletes run pretty good times. I saw on their site they boast the fastest and third fastest at the Combine last year. I think i read that the Jones kid is there too. Anybody know anything else? I love to hear about the pre-combine numbers.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the 'school' but it's really helped some guys move up on the draft boards. I much prefer pure scouting and head-to-head competition - like Barnes OLT vs. Roth DE - it was a great battle between two real pros. I do look at the 40 times and the bench reps - but I caution myself not to pay too much attention.

Funny thing, Conry Griffin ran an awful time at the Combine and dropped down on almost every team's draft board... now he's our best DT. Beware of the 'Workout Warriors' I guess.

No doubt. You'd think these scouts would be wary of anybody who "moves up" during the combine by how they perform on these tests.

Watch their game tapes. Talk to their coaches. Get a quality player.

Welcome to the best Skins board on the web.

I quite frankly do not care about speed (meaning top times) among linemem and several other positions. I care about it maybe only among CBs and WRs.

Now GF, when was the last time you saw a 300lb guard or tackle 25yds downfield throwing a block. They only have to have quick feet for 5-10 yards at the most to be a good lineman.

I saw it in 2002 and 2003. He even caught passes. Jason Peters was always downfie-. Wait, he was just a 300+ pound TE. :shock:

Runyan and Fraley do it often enough to be remembered for it. Fraley's a center, but I'll still count him. He's a lot faster than he looks.

Too bad none of the original Hogs knew this fact! I can almost picture Big Joe Jacoby sprinting to pass Darrell Green in a 40-yard dash. :shock:

Some of us are under the uninformed assumption that a good lineman is good for his technique, his strength, his intelligence and, most importantly, his character. Cornelius Griffin suffered in the draft due to his lack of speed and... I will still take him on top of ANY Eagle lineman, thank you very much.

But then again, I am not an "automatic" Skins fan. I leave that to others better informed than I am. :roll:

No problem Smithian. Some of the "tests" at the combine make sense for some positions and others are just for show. These "tests" are vey unreliable IMO. There are a whole bunch of QBs whom never had made it as great athletes in a "test" and still had all other attributes to be great.

By the way, what's up with your Colts avatar? I suspect that there is a good picture of M. Washington in Redskins uniform. He is great.

I agree whole heartedly. The Combine Times are sometimes overrated, but they do help some sleepers come out on top. Cornelius Griffin made his name by balling out, not by running a bad time...he ran a good time for a DT. Film is number one, but what about all the pressure of scouts,gms,owners and coaches being there. That is a good testament to how a rookie can handle pressure.

I'm not changing it because I want to show I was his first cheer leader on TheHogs.net. Unless I get a note saying "First MW Fan", then Mr. Washington(No offense, Joe Gibbs.)will continue to wear his Colts jersey.
