Is Coors buying Molson?

Can it be? I just had a glance at the headline, but it looked to be saying that Coors, makers of the original taste-free beer, was set to buy Molson.

I used to drive to a family/biker bar just because they had Molson's on tap...they were almost the first in the New York area with Canadian beer, and word spread. I remember our friend, Steve from Austin, saying, with awe, "They have Molson!"

The great bar, in Irvington, NJ, I think, also had a juke box with the "all purpose country-western song": it can't be country-western unless it mentions your mother, or rain, or honky-tonks, or trucks, or death, the singer explained. Then he sang something like: "It was raining that night when my mama came out of the honky-tonk and was run over by a truck".

There is no way that Coors deserves to displace that bar, that song, or Molsons!

Molson Receives Final Court Approval for Completion of Merger with Coors

MONTREAL, Feb. 2 /CNW Telbec/ - Molson, Inc. (TSX: MOL.A) today announced
that it has received a final order from the Superior Court, District of
Montréal, Province of Québec approving a plan of arrangement under the Canada
Business Corporations Act to effect Molson's merger of equals with Adolph
Coors Company.
As previously announced, Molson and Coors shareholders approved the
combination at their special shareholder meetings held on January 28, 2005 and
February 1, 2005, respectively. The closing of the merger is expected to occur
on February 9, 2005 prior to the opening of the stock markets in Canada and
the United States.

How can you guys dis' Coors???

Unless it somehow magically loses it's flavor on the transport trucks to your hometown I don't understand what you're talking about. :hmm:

Coors beer is the best you can get out of all the major brands. Sure it's nice to get a local brewery's beer once in a while, but I mean... Coors is pretty good beer!

PS- I turn 21 in about 18 more days... :-$

I'm really not a "beer guy." I don't drink it that often, so when I do I want something heavier and darker. That pretty much eliminates any of the big-name north american beers. To me, Coors/Bud/Miller all taste like fizzy, dirty water. The exception to the rule is Molson XXX. There's no better way to pre-game or get the night started than Triple-X.

I'm 23 btw.
